Sell a domain for $400 and receive only $280. That's not a commission, that's robbery.
I sold a domain for $400 and they sent me $280. How is that even legal? That's straight up theft.

Crooks for GoDaddy
Crooks for GoDaddy. Afternic listed 8 of my domains and purchased 1 additional domain sold two domains to a gambling website owner. They did nothing to stop the sale after repeatedly told not to. They offering to pay me 30 for one of the stolen domains and zero for the second one. My limo website is now in the gambling business. grandlimoatlanta.com and grandlimocolumbus.com. Do not trust this company with your business.

Impossible to buy a domain due to lies and incompetence
Offered money for a domain. The sales rep accidentally replied to me thinking I was the seller and disclosed sensitive information. The sales rep stopped replying to me.
I opened a new bid, and a new sales rep said that the seller wants 500% more.
Scam. Avoid.

Terrible payments and customer service
Because I have a bank account in the British Channel Islands, and because that bank account has a different SWIFT code configuration, they are refusing to pay me the $15,000 they have pocketed for selling one of our domains. A couple of months later am no closer to resolving this. Its basically theft. And you can't speak to anyone other than customer service agents who just promise you everything is fine.

Be very careful when using this platform. Their fee transparency is nonexistent
I am extremely disappointed with Afternic’s payout process and their hidden fee structure. I recently sold a domain for $399, and by the time they were done adding arbitrary deductions, I was left with a fraction of my money.
Here is how they chip away at your earnings:
Gross Sale Price: $399.00
Commission (30%): Took $119.70 (leaving $279.30). A 30% cut is already incredibly high, yet it apparently covers zero administrative support.
Rejection Fee: $25.00. Because of an invalid routing code error on the first attempt, they immediately slapped a massive $25 penalty.
Double Transaction Fees: $5.00 was charged for the failed attempt, and another $5.00 for the successful second attempt.
In the end, I only received 10,978.41 TRY (which equals approx. $244.30 USD at a 44.94 exchange rate).
Paying a massive 30% commission should mean a seamless service. Instead, Afternic hits you with $35.00 worth of hidden processing and rejection penalties without any clear warnings during setup.
Be very careful when using this platform. Their fee transparency is nonexistent, and they will find any excuse to deduct money from your legitimate earnings. I demand a review of this transaction and a refund of these unfair banking fees.

I inquired about the sale of my silver web site address. Instead of answering they sent me a satisfaction survey typical American service.

PROFESSIONAL LIARS!
I have been doing business with Afternic for a long time. On March 24, 2026, I completed a domain name sale. The domain transfer process took much longer than the standard procedure; they said they were having problems with the registrar, and I had to repeatedly inquire about the situation. If I hadn't intervened, the sale would have been cancelled. They have been keeping me waiting for weeks regarding the payment.
Now they are professionally lying to my face!
The information they provided regarding the payment on April 25, 2026: "Kindly be informed that the payment was submitted for payout since 9 April 2026 towards your Payee ID 299****"
When I asked them for the SWIFT message information to verify with the bank, their lie was exposed, and they fabricated another lie:
Their response on May 9th: "Based on what we can see, payee 299**** is now payable, however the payout has not been fully processed yet."
It seems this trillion-dollar company is having a huge struggle to pay a few hundred dollars and keep track of business!

SELLER BEWARE-Afternic Seller Services
SELLER BEWARE
I’m sharing a recent seller experience with Afternic that raises serious concerns about process transparency, customer engagement, and overall platform accountability.
I listed a small portion of my domain portfolio with Afternic as a test, based on GoDaddy’s recommendation to use their partner to expand visibility. Given my positive, longstanding experience with GoDaddy brokers, I expected a similar level of seller engagement and professionalism. That was not the case.
A domain of mine was sold at a materially below-market price without any prior outreach to confirm or negotiate terms. The first notice I received indicated the sale had already been completed and required immediate transfer—eliminating any meaningful opportunity for seller input.
Compounding the issue, initial communications were not reliably delivered, and subsequent attempts to contact Afternic through the channels they provided were unsuccessful.
Phone numbers did not connect to appropriate representatives or allow for voicemail, leaving no clear path to resolve the matter in real time.
When I eventually responded in writing on their portal, I proposed reasonable solutions. Either: adjust the sale price (which Afternic itself valued significantly higher), revise their commission, or complete the deal through proper broker engagement. None of these options were meaningfully considered. Instead, the transaction was canceled and reframed as a “seller failure.”
This experience highlights broader concerns about how Afternic manages seller relationships. Domain owners are the foundation of their marketplace, yet this case reflects a lack of direct engagement, limited transparency in transaction mechanics, and inadequate seller support when issues arise.
For sellers with valuable domain portfolios—particularly those accustomed to broker-led transactions—this raises important questions about how trust is established and maintained on this platform.
Greater clarity, accessibility, and alignment with industry-standard practices would significantly improve confidence in Afternic’s marketplace.
Until those gaps are addressed, I would urge sellers to proceed with caution, carefully review their listing settings, and fully understand the level of control they may be relinquishing when participating in the Afternic network.
