I have been purchasing contacts for myself and my family for 10+ years from 1-800Contacts. I’ve always had good service and until recently I’ve had great success with their price matching. They would always be able to match any price I found (out the door, with any processing/delivery fees included). This time they refused to do the price match because I found the site “through a search engine”. They will only price match when you enter the site’s URL directly, which is significantly more expensive. I don’t think I will be using them in the future.

I have been a long time customer of 1 800 contacts and overall have had a good experience. They have been reliable in shipping the contacts to me when Im in a pinch and needed them quickly and have corrected any issues with the contacts if there were any. In the past they have also been good at price matching from other websites. Recently, they have changed their policy on price matching. I have heard from representatives things like 'incognito, and cache and cookies, first time promo price, Google pricing, etc'. But the truth is they are no longer price matching a competitor's website sale price, they will match the original price on the competitors website. There is a bit of misinformation and runaround type explanation from the representatives now that I did not detect in the past. I looked up contacts on a non-Google site and put them in the cart and saw the price and 1 800 contacts would not match that price. They give an excuse and will price match to the non-sale price. But the sale price on the competitors website IS the actual price on that website. There is no internet fluke. They have been reliable in getting the contacts to me in the past so I have been a repeat customer. I also never noticed anything sketchy about my experience with them. This recent policy change on price matching is slightly sketchy and they are not being straightforward and upfront about it to their customers. Unfortunately, I am thinking about now trying another company for contacts. Update (6/2021): I called another contact lens company and got a quote for 3 boxes of the contacts I use. I specifically asked if the sale price was available to everyone or if it was just for first time buyers. I was told by the representative from this other company it is a sale price for everyone, while the sale is on. I then called 1-800 CONTACTS and the representative would not honor the sale price and said she 'did not see it'. I replied that the sale price is on their website and I spoke to a representative who confirmed this price. 1-800 CONTACTS would not truly match a better price on a competitors website. Overall, I have had a good experience with this company over the years and they've been reliable but they have undoubtedly changed their price matching policy and are NOT being upfront about it to their customers.

I had been a happy customer for many years. Customer service is always great, fast, friendly and efficient, and prices are competitive. You can always text them and expect a quick reply too, which is very convenient. For the first time, I returned an unused pair of boxes and it was NOT a good experience. By text I was told I would get $85 for the two boxes (about 75% of the original price) but the refund ended up being only 50%, even though the boxes were full except for one lens in one of them, which I told them about. I would have been ok had they given me the right price from the beginning. But the main issue was that the refund took FIVE weeks because it was credited to my 1800 account instead of being refunded to my original form of payment, as I had requested. The experience has been a disappointment from a company that I had otherwise been very happy with. But I have to stress that the friendliness and speed of their customer service is the best I’ve ever experienced.

I ordered contacts with 1-800 contacts. The only good thing is that they did come on time with ordering them for next day delivery. But the only down side I've noticed with their contacts is that after taking them out at night.The following morning I have dried crust in the corners of my eyes. I know its not the make up I wear or the make up remover I use since the contacts I was getting with my actual eye doctor has never done this to me before.But Im just going to hope that its just because its spring and its allergies and not their contacts... But time will tell but will wear my glasses for 24 hours and put in contacts again later on in the week with no make up and see what happens.
