Absolute garbage. We coordinated and reserved a spot to store our boat. This was important since we were driving across fhe country and had no where else to store it. We were assured the space we reserved was for a "boat." When we arrived, the spot was clearly not for a boat. There was no way our boat would fit. When we called back, the representative stated the spot was not for a boat, despite being assured multiple times prior to this, that it was. This cost us a ton of time and energy. . I will never deal with this company ever again. In 2021, dishonesty is unacceptable.

I reserved a drive up 10x15 unit 2 days prior to my move in day, on self storage.com. I received a confirmation email and also a "moving day" email that my reserved unit was good to go. I was moving 8 hours from Ohio to Durham and needed to store our belongings until we could officially move down this winter. I show up and there isn't an office, it's just a kiosk, so I call customer service. They saw the email and my reservation code for a 10x15 but they didn't finalize it on their end. Three people, including a lead, were working on the account and best answer they could give me is that it was self storage.com's fault. After a half a hour of no resolution I told them I'm here, it is 6 o'clock, I need a unit. The u-haul had to be returned that night so I didn't have any time to go find a different storage unit. The best they could do was a 10x10 that was not drive up and meant I'd be walking a good 50-75 feet with every single item. There was no offer for a discount for my troubles or anything at all for reserving a unit and showing up to "sorry that's someone else's fault". Even though that someone is an entity they have a business associate agreement to rent out their units. There was no culpability. Basically hey, you're SOL. While moving, after packing up a 20 foot u-haul, driving 8 hours, and hauling every single item 50-75 feet for 4.5 hours, we became utterly exhausted. It was dark out, and from the frustration, exhaustion, and everything, an accident occured that lead to the breaking of a 100+ year old antique cabinet. My wife has never seen me so angry and cursing like that in the ten years that we've known each other. We also had to jam pack the unit to make it all fit and I wouldn't be surprised if more stuff ends up broken. Our items are not replaceable, they are antiques that are one of a kind, but we didn't have any other option. I am a very patient individual, but this is the worst business interaction I've had in my life and the customer service agent stated that she has had others that also reserved units on self storage.com that didn't go through. Again, terrible business. You know there's an issue, fix it, why let it continue to happen? Ridiculous.

DO NOT deal with this business. Their mistakes will cost you. Their "SYSTEM" will let you reserve a unit for up to 10 days prior to your move-in date. You do not pay rent until your move-in date because that is when the prorated rent for that month is calculated. That is why they will only hold a unit for you for 10 days. On my move-in date I logged in to pay my rent, but the "SYSTEM" said there was no such tenant. When I call to ask what was going on, they said that the "SYSTEM" had cancelled my reservation at 1:00 am that day for nonpayment, even though that day was my move-in date. BUT THAT WAS THE DAY I WAS TOLD TO MAKE MY PAYMENT. Was I supposed to pay between midnight and 1:00 am? In the meantime, they had rented my unit to someone else, and only a larger more expensive unit was available. The tech on the phone and even the supervisor agreed that I should have been able to pay that day and could not explain why the "SYSTEM" cancelled me on my move-in date. I have my email confirmation with that date listed as my move-in date, and they could also see it in their records. They just kept blaming the "SYSTEM." The "SYSTEM" was now costing me 50% more than my original unit. I asked to have another unit provided at the same rate as my original unit, but the supervisor said she could not do that. I did everything I was supposed to do, when I was told to do it, but none of that mattered. Find a different company to deal with. One that won't cheat you and blame it on the "SYSTEM." In your response you refer to my reservation as being expired. The reservation was terminated at 1:00 am on the move-in date listed in my confirmation email. Not after my move-in date or even at end of day. If your system wanted me to pay sooner, then I should not have been given that move-in date, or I should have been given a payment deadline. Instead, I was told to pay on my move-in date. You also say that the $20 more per month that I had to pay was not such a big deal, but it is a 25% increase over the rate I originally agreed to pay. Plus, it not a one time cost. It is a recurring monthly expense. If it is not such a big deal, then you could have waived it since it was your system that made the mistake. I don’t know what dictionary you are using where move-in date and expiration date mean the same thing. My confirmation email read “due at move-in” not due before move in. I am a construction superintendent and travel for my job. I have a 5th wheel which my family travels in with me and I also carry all the office equipment and tools that I need to do my job on the road. When I get my next assignment, I always find a storage unit close to where I park my 5th wheel so that I can store everything that we need to carry but also do not use daily. I also store the office equipment and tools in this until needed on the job. I did this when I reached Forth Worth and found this facility. 2 days before I needed all of my supplies and equipment, I tried to access the unit that I have rented from you and was not able to because the keypad at the gate was broken and there was some kind of software issue with the call-in number which was supposed to automatically recognize my phone number and let me in. I could not access my rented storage space and had to purchase everything that I had in the storage unit again so that I could do my job. When I called the phone number on the gate and I was told that there was nothing that they could do about getting me access. At that time, I asked for a credit for the time that I could not access any of my supplies and was told that when the software issue was resolved I would get an email stating that I had access again and there would be a credit for the time that I did not have access. I waited several weeks and did not hear anything and when I called again, I was informed that there was still a problem. I just received the bill for the storage unit on Saturday 5/22. There is no credit for the month that I could not access my unit. I assumed that since I had gotten the bill that all of the software issues had been resolved and now, I would need to rent another storage unit for my newly acquired supplies. I tried to rent one using the kiosk in the office at the facility. The kiosk was not working, and I had to call the number on the gate to rent another unit. On Sunday I loaded up my truck and came to the facility to load up my new unit, this time I was able to get in the gate but when I got to the storage unit, there were 2 black locks on it. I used the Davinci Lock web site and after putting my user name in I was texted the Overlock Release verification code which I then input into the 6 boxes on the website, I then got a message saying “SORRY! SOMETHING WENT WRONG, LETS TRY AGAIN.” I went through this process 6 times until I was forced to quit by heavy rain. No one was answering the phone number posted on the gate. I had to go to Lowes and buy a tarp to cover all my new equipment that was getting ruined by the weather! Again, I was not able to use the storage that I have paid for. I have used storage facilities for the last 20 years in many different states and have never had as many problems or as bad of service as I have had with this one! It would have been cheaper and less frustrating for me to keep everything in the last storage unit that I used in Georgia and drive there when I need to get something. I got an email telling me that I was being reimbursed for a month and that there would be no more problems so I tried again to get my my belongings into storage. I had to leave work in the middle of the day to go to the storage facility to call and get the 2 Davinci lock combinations, remove them from the storage unit and place my own lock on the unit. I did not have time to load up everything I needed to place in the unit so I just took off the Davinci locks off of the door and placed my own on. Yesterday, I again loaded everything onto my truck (3rd time loading the same stuff because of previous access problems) and took it to the storage facility. When I took my lock off and opened the door imagine my surprise when the unit was full of stuff that was not mine. It looks like it belonged to the previous leaser of the unit and had never been cleaned out. 6:30 in the evening and I tried to call the number on the gate, no one answered. I left a message telling them that I was not going to take my load back and unload it yet again because of poor management at this facility and that I was going to move it out and put my stuff in the unit. I had to empty the entire unit, placing it all by an exterior fence and I could put everything that I had brought with me into the unit. Every visit that I have made to it has been filled with problems. What's next? Are they going to bill me for hauling to a dumpster the material that was left in my storage space that I had to remove to make room for my belongings??? No one on site, no one answering the main phone line, I still have not talked to anyone about all of the problems that I have had, just received a "sorry for the inconvenience" form email. I am amazed at how poorly this storage facility is run. I wish there was a way to give a -10 star rating so that other people could be warned about what I have been going thru here!

Can’t even access my building that I’ve rented have been at it for over a week now and I can’t even get in it makes no sense

Our unit was not ready and we had to wait 2 hours to get a new storage unit.

We had trouble getting out of the complex the first time using the gate. We call customer service a number of times and they always acted like we were bothering them. I called to follow up on the work order and again the agent treated me with so much attitude. I am very disappointed with my experience. We are renting a unit for our son for the summer to put his dorm things in and I was setting up the unit over the phone given I live in Florida and every time I called I was greeted with the same attitude, except for the last time I called the new person was actually helpful. I have half a mind to drive the 7 hours to North Carolina just to move my son's things out to a different storage facility. We won't be using your company again.
