Fees described as USPTO costs did not match our filings
We hired Zoom Trademarks to file trademarks for our business name and logo. We paid $398 for a service package and $2,100 on an invoice labeled “USPTO Filing Fee x2.” The filing receipts Zoom sent us described three classes and $1,050 in filing fees for each application. When I checked the actual USPTO records, each application showed one class and a $250 filing fee. In March 2025, Zoom told us that attestation in all 50 states and publication fees were required. We paid another $4,950. I later learned that the USPTO specifically warns against demands for payment to attest a trademark in every state. Both of our applications are now suspended pending administrative review, and the correspondence email in the filings is one I do not control. We have received no refund. I feel misled by how these fees were presented. Zoom should clearly distinguish its service charges from actual government fees and give customers accurate filing information. I recommend checking any claimed USPTO requirement directly with the USPTO before paying.
