Zipcar is scam company and they will charge you for even applying

Zipcar is NOT what they use to be. I've been a .ember for many years now and ziocar doesn't give a damn about its customer base. I'll be so happy when another service like zipcar comes alone and push them out. Zipcar has turned into a real not so nice company. Over the years I've returned cars with 20 and 30 minutes left on the rental, I've pay for several cabs cause the car wasn't there. I returned a car 6 or 7 minutes late and was charged $70 and no one was waiting for car. Not even $70 is not appropriate for 7 minutes late and NO ONE is waiting for the car. Zipcar is FOS. Zipcar doesn't record how many times you've returned a car with 20 30 even 40 minutes left. Zipcar gives you NOTHING back but I don't ask. But have sympathy for those that are loyal to your company but no zipcar wants to figure a way to ram it up your rear end. Loved this company once but its going to hell fast. Please do not waste my time with that generated response. I've already know the outcome. I'm switching to Turo. Zipcar go F@CK yourself. I'm going to make sure my 5 other family members with Zipcar delete their accounts also. Another ride share will come along soon. Zipcar underwear has gotten too big. They say f@ck the little man that keeps the company afloat. Customer service ain't worth a hill of bean. They can't do a damn thing.

I applied for membership and was rejected. But they can provide no reason for the rejection. When I check against the reasons they list in their FAQs I fulfilled all their requirements. It seems totally random. They do not accept phone calls. And they still have my £10 deposit. It's a scam. If they hang onto to hundreds of thousands of deposits, they boost their income. They should be investigated.

I applied for membership and I was turned down. However I was charged $27.20 for application fee.

They are scammers! As I went to pick up my car, I could not find it and realized they changed my car to a different lot without my permission. I tried to call customer service and spoke to "Hope", but they were unwilling to help. I tried to salvage the trip by running to the new lot. I was already behind and it was super inconvenient as I rented the Zipcar to transport something to my apartment, not a parking lot twenty minutes from my apartment. I lost so much time. I complained to a useless customer service agent after the trip at first they wanted to reimburse me for 7 minutes then agreed to reimburse me for 30 minutes which I thought was ridiculous. I thought the miserable experience was over 4 days later I got an email claiming I had been in a car accident and damaged the car! I had done no such thing. I spoke to two useless customer service representatives who seemed to think there was nothing wrong with changing the lot without telling me and falsely accusing me of crashing the car. I do not know how this will progress as they have not responded to my report challenging their claim, but I would recommend avoiding this company.

I rented a car and went to the home base to pick it up. It was dirty and was mechanically unfit to drive. There were warnings flashing on the dash to check the engine, there were exhaust warnings which could effect engine power and overdue maintenance warnings. Then when I returned the car, I was lied to about access to another car. Read the contract. They have several different ways to take your money.

The car was not there, I received no advanced notification, and they had no replacement. I had a family emergency, I'd reserved the car days in advance. When I showed up I had to call customer service to learn that I was stranded in the rain. This was one of the worst experiences I've had as a consumer - I was completely helpless and the response I received from them was that they'd do me the kindness of refunding my reservation (which seemed pretty obvious to be a bare minimum expectation). Nobody from Zipcar ever followed up with me about it. It was really awful.

I received the difficult news that a family member was in critical condition, and I needed to find a car at the last minute so I could rush out to the hospital (located about an hour and a half outside the city) and say goodbye. I’d recently heard about Zipcar and figured I’d give them a shot. After submitting my application, I realized I’d entered the wrong card information. No biggie, I figured I could resubmit with the correct card details once my application had been rejected. Well, evidently not. According to the individual from Zipcar’s application team I spoke with, “if your application is rejected for any reason, you cannot submit a new one and you will never be able to use Zipcar.” Harsh. And given the devastating news I’d received that day, this compounded the stress I was under. I ended up using Turo and had a wonderful experience. Turo actually ended up being significantly cheaper because it didn’t make me pay an application fee or sign up for a membership. $54 for an 8-hour rental with Turo versus the $153 it would’ve been with Zipcar. If Zipcar doesn’t want my money, that’s fine by me. There are much better services out there.
