If you have windows and a touch screen Zinio have made their reader unusable. I have been a subscriber for years and have recently been forced to upgrade from ZR2, which worked competantly with a touchscreen, to ZR5. When I say forced I mean there was no customer service email informing me that ZR2 would be discontinued. ZR2 is still current in the Microsoft Store. I only found out ZR2 was discontinued after I couldn’t read my subscriptions for 3 weeks and began to investigate. ZR5 is slow even on my top-of-the-line MS surface book, can only be used semi-effectively with a track pad, and has nearly zero touch screen functionality. For example, no touchscreen pinch-to-zoom support! Cmon guys! Move into this century will you! What is the point of digital subscription if the reader is unusable? Sack your software development MANAGEMENT team (not the coders). I will be cancelling my subscriptions. Zinio is now awful. Don't even consider it if you want a comfortable reading experience.

Our web team is busy working to fix the issue with the touch screen functionality. On our system it is difficult to identify which customers use which platforms, this may explain why you did not get the end of support message about the Win8 tablet and the request to upgrade. Used to be a good app. Now non-intuative and difficult to use (“If it ain’t broke, DON’T FIX IT”). Won’t be renewing my magazine subscriptions.

Although it was not "broke" without changes to the platform we would not be able to offer long term stability of service. 5/29/18 UPDATE to my review that was originally published on 3/21/18 as I would like to respond to the comment Zinio left below. I will upgrade them from 1 star to 3 stars since they did end up fixing the issue, but I was still very disappointed with the response time and how difficult it is to get a hold of somebody. It took Zinio well over two months to fix the problem. Their response time is also most certainly not under an hour - I had to make multiple follow ups to my issue. It wasn't until the very end of the problem that I started to receive some regular updates. The process was very frustrating at the time I posted this review back in March. So yes, Zinio, while you read my review here in May and think I'm being completely unfair, I was already two weeks into the problem when I left this review back in March and was trying to catch your attention by leaving the review here. I was excited to come across Zinio as the company I was looking for is seeking out higher resolution images of magazines we've been featured in. I did read the negative reviews on Zinio prior to purchasing, but thought it couldn't be that bad. Unfortunately, it IS that bad. There is no way to contact customer service except for online chat. I initiated my problem 6 days ago and no one is responding to my follow up questions. I purchased $60 worth of various magazines from 2015 to 2018, and nothing past 2017 displays the pages for me. There are just fuzzy image fillers and I cannot view the content. Very frustrated, want my money back!

I would like to stress that it is highly unusually that you encounter such problems and we are really sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. We migrated millions of magazines from one platform to a new system in March and unfortunately your purchases of older magazines were impacted. We hope that you are now fully enjoying your subscriptions (error free) to Good Housekeeping and Oprah Magazine, as well as the purchased back issues. We have 24*7 support available via [email protected] or through livechat. Normally we have a reply time of under 1 hour. Thanks again for sticking with us.

Living in an area of limited internet speed, I like Zinio as it allows you to start reading before the magazine has fully downloaded. A lot of the other apps from publishers require you to download the whole magazine first. Only downside is that the applications can be a little buggy (iOS & Mac), which is not so impressive.

All my magazines disappeared on my iPad mine. Reloaded them again. Now I get Syncing your library for hours and hours and hours. App used to work fine, recent upgrades and made it useless. Still seems to work on my mamboed and iPhone but I would like to read on my iPad mini. Their online help was useless. My searches let to no results.
