Great product, poor support
I bought Xgimi Horizon in August 2024 for over CAD $1,300 directly from Amazon.ca (Amazon ULC). For the first several months, I was genuinely impressed — the image quality, brightness, sound, and smart features are excellent. When it works, it’s a very enjoyable projector for movies and home theater use. Unfortunately, less than a year after purchase, the projector developed a dead pixel issue. XGIMI support reviewed the problem and confirmed that it was a hardware issue. That’s when the experience became frustrating. XGIMI support informed me that because the product was sold by Amazon.ca rather than the “XGIMI-direct” Amazon storefront, they could not provide standard local warranty support in Canada. Instead, I was asked to ship the projector to the United States at my own expense and deal with customs fees for warranty service. Amazon, meanwhile, referred me back to the manufacturer. As a result, I ended up stuck between Amazon and XGIMI trying to determine who is actually responsible for supporting a valid warranty claim. To be fair, XGIMI representatives were polite, and after escalation they agreed to waive a proposed $200 exchange fee. However, I would still need to pay shipping/customs costs to send the projector to the U.S., and the replacement offered would be a refurbished unit rather than a new one. The projector itself is very good. But potential buyers in Canada should carefully consider the warranty/support situation before purchasing a premium product in this price range.
