Vacation Plan Scam
We attended a presentation in exchange for a friend's timeshare. This ordeal turned into a nearly 3-hour sales marathon. By the end of it we were exhausted, overwhelmed, and told that this was a “today only” deal. We repeatedly expressed financial concerns — we both work in the arts — and were met with empty promises: easy resale options, equity toward homeownership, cheap international vacations, and more. The reality has been the complete opposite. Details about maintenance fees, housekeeping credits, and multiple lines of credit being opened in our names were glossed over or never carefully explained. We left not fully understanding what we'd agreed to until the bills started stacking up the following month. Our assigned rep left the company shortly after our purchase. We were never notified, never reassigned, and left completely on our own to navigate a confusing website full of bugs with zero availability. The one vacation we managed to book required splitting between three resorts and wiped out all our housekeeping credits, creating even more unexpected costs. We then lost our jobs. Every promise about selling points or having a way out has been false — a scheduled exit meeting was simply never followed through on. We receive up to 5–6 calls per day from Worldmark/Wyndham sales reps. When asked to switch to email contact, we were told company policy doesn't allow it. This has caused serious financial harm and daily stress. We feel completely scammed and hoping to get this resolved before needing to seek legal representation. Don’t fall for anything they offer and keep your money in your bank.
