We bought into Wyndham’s timeshare in…Scam Artists
We bought into Wyndham’s timeshare in 2008 after a sales presentation in Las Vegas. We were told that if we weren’t happy after a year, we could cancel for a full refund. When my husband tried, he was told we didn’t qualify. They also added me to the contract because of my credit, and said my name could come off after six months. When I asked, I was told to pay a $300 removal fee. I paid it right away, and only then was I told I couldn’t be removed. We felt completely misled. They took our money and didn’t honor their agreement. In 2011 a rep called offering “supplemental benefits.” They weren’t the same as what we originally bought, and using them meant another 4 to 5 hour sales meeting. It was exhausting. Our costs climbed from about $600 a month to over $1,000 and kept changing, making it nearly impossible to budget. Now we’re retired with health problems and can’t afford it. A Wyndham rep in Oceanside tried to help, but the two companies she referred us to said there was nothing they could do. I finally reached Wyndham Financial myself. They lowered our payments to $538 and $572, but the maintenance fee rose to $193 a month. We’re still paying for something we can’t use. All we want is to cancel and stop the billing. Avoid this company at all cost if possible and if not, ask lots of questions, don’t let anyone rush you, and get everything in writing. Scam artists is what they really are.
