We purchased insurance with Oyster for our e-bike rental business. They were quick to issue a policy, but we never heard from them after they took our money. We tried for a whole year and never got a single response. We called every number posted on their website and on Reddit, and sent emails to every email address we could find. We finally gave up and found another provider. We are so lucky we didn't need to file a claim. As far as I can tell, they are a scam. Avoid this company at all costs.

In June 2025, I paid £10 for a replacement 60+ Oyster card and received it at my London address. That should have confirmed my details. On 7 July, I replied to TfL’s reminder email to say I’d already done this, but got no reply. After that, I couldn’t reset my online account password (no reset emails ever came), the callback option failed, and I spent over 30 minutes on hold without getting through. Despite my efforts, my card was stopped and I was told to reapply at a higher cost (£35). Multiple advisers replied, but none addressed the fact I’d already had a replacement in June or the system failures that stopped me completing their process. I’ve had to pay out of pocket for travel while this dragged on. I’m reapplying so I can travel again, but this feels unfair — TfL’s own systems made compliance impossible, yet the cost and disruption falls on me. I’d like TfL to review cases like this properly, so others don’t face the same.

Website is down. Live chat never has anyone available. My policy doesn't load (keep getting a "spinning wheel" on the website), so it is currently impossible for me to file a claim. It's an AI company, so there is no phone number to report these issues.

After being their customer for over 3 years, i came to a point where i have no choice but have to leave this review. Long story short, they will not accept any liability for mistakes caused by their staff. Mr Pete Best-avoid.

I had questions up front and though the chat response said they’ll email me, they never did. So I cancelled and went with someone else.

Oyster sending clients private invoice to me in error, contacted number shown on email, number called on claims never heard of Oyster, get email from Oyster telling me to disregard email.I do. Receive call following day asking what is going on with claim. Speak to Oyster , they have never heard of number that called me. I could go on .(checking reviews noticed scam notifications, now getting a little stressed) Basically would not trust this company with my private information , as i still hold info for a business

Oyster is a fraud. They first take full payment for a year and when you file a legitimate claim they ask you for tons of documents forcing you to abandon your claim and you end up paying for the repair because it's a hassle to gather all the documentation they ask. Stay away from these people. They just want your money. It's a false protection, an illusion, difficult to process a claim. I repent having bought two policies for my two iPhones.

I set up an insurance policy, then was told I had to pay it up front and not monthly, and you can't get a hold of them. No 24 hour customer service, can't find a way to cancel it on the site, and I accidentally activated it early. This is a scam. I'll have to call my bank tomorrow and block them from my account.
