Loose loose situation. You buy wine from them and pay 17% premium plus tax and high shipping charges. You sell the same wine and again pay 9% commission plus 1% insurance. Wow!! Such a rip off!! Oh!! And they hold the fund for 30 days.😂

I have had only a single (last!)…
I have had only a single (last!) experience with WineBid, buying from a couple of auctions and then arranging "temperature controlled" shipping.
The issue is that the wine came A WEEK EARLIER than they indicated when arranging shipping! Early is good, right? Not when you're out of the country and arranged a shipping date based on when they told me it would arrive.
I emailed them and it took DAYS to get a response while the wine sat in a hot warehouse baking. I asked for a refund and they said no because "the wine arrived when expected" except -- (i) the wine never arrived (it was undelivered and returned to sender), and (ii) it was expected a WEEK LATER.
"Molly" of customer service was neither understanding nor polite.
Some of the wine in the shipment was 50 years old so shipping conditions and timeliness matter. But apparently those things (and customers) don't matter much to Wine Bid.

Description on site did not match what I received
I recently purchased a 50 year old bottle of wine for a relative's 50th birthday. The description said "Light label wear". The picture online did not show the condition of the label. When I received it, the label on the front had rips and the back label was totally obliterated. Contacted customer service with no response.

We hope you saw our earlier private reply to the message you sent via our chat system, but have provided it below as well.
Your account was automatically blocked by our system due to security flags. In addition, the content of your chat and email communications to WineBid contained expletives and abusive language. This is something we simply do not tolerate and is in direct violation of our terms and conditions.

We apologize for any misunderstanding as to the process for the temperature controlled ground shipment method you selected. As you mention, the shipper who provides the temperature controlled ground service you selected has weekly trucks that depart Napa on Fridays. Orders must be transferred to this shipper's warehouse 1-2 business days before their Friday departure in order to make it on that week's truck. Given their timing, a 6-11 business day estimated transit time is listed for this shipment method.
Estimated shipping rates and estimated transit times for all shipment methods, from ground to overnight, can be found via the wine shipping calculator link in the footer of our website or in the Help section of our mobile app. This provides our customers the various shipping options so they can select which best meets their needs both for timing and cost (which is passed along directly from the shipper).
Information regarding the buyer's premium, sales tax, shipping rates, and more can be found in the FAQ and other help pages on our website at www.winebid.com.
Please don't hesitate to contact Customer Service directly by phone, chat, or email if there are additional questions we can answer or processes we can explain to make your WineBid experience the best it can be.

Winebid is NOT so Good
My experiences have NOT been good with Winebid. First, I thought they had a ridiculously high 17% premium fee and you can get lower fees on other auction sites. Second, the shipping was very excessive compared to others. Thirdly, not having exposure to the others bidding (like a in person wine auction), makes me think there are underhanded things going on the maximize on their profits. Lastly, I've gotten wine that may have been fakes and they can NOT guarantee their authenticity.
I will not be a returning customer.

worst customer service ever
worst customer service ever, this company takes no responsibility for the authenticity of the products that they sell. but the do charge a hefty price as 17% IS ALOT, to not do much but post a product on the website. i told them what i got was fake and they didn't care they just sent me to the terms and conditions that held them harmless. save your money spend it somewhere else.

Reviewer uses abusive language in emails to Customer Service. This review seems to refer to a 2018 incident in which he first reached out seeking replacement claiming a bottle was "bad," then changed complaint to bottle being "fake," due to prices being lower than winery retail. Despite reviewer’s unsubstantiated complaints and abusive behavior, he was immediately issued a full credit.
In response to reviewer’s allegations: WineBid has a full time inspection team that hand inspects every bottle for authenticity and visible condition issues. We provide detailed inspection notes and photography on every item on the site, unlike any other wine auction website. However, we cannot warrant the quality of every individual bottle, which is made clear in our T&C, and regular and vintage wine buyers understand this. With regard to auction pricing versus winery or retail pricing, WineBid pricing is based on our 25 years of auction sales history reflecting the market price for a wine, which usually is lower than winery or retailer’s price, and which most WineBid customers appreciate. WineBid’s 17% buyer’s premium is also among the lowest in the industry.

Although they have reasonable exposure…
Although they have reasonable exposure in the marketplace, WineBid holds your money after they sell it for additional 30 BUSINESS days. They require buyers to pay immediately with a credit card on file, collect the completed auction amounts then keep your cash for 30 business days. This is approximately 6 weeks before they give you YOUR money. There is no way it takes nearly this long to process incoming payments. Money moves instantly with electronic fund transfers these days. I can understand a week tops, not 6 weeks. They also charge the industries' largest commission of 15% for large quantities (18% for smaller batches). I have determined there are far better places to sell wine. Try K&L for example. 5% commission.
