I was bullied in Whole Foods dining area and was asked to move by WF associate!
I went to Whole Foods in Silver Spring MD yesterday to take advantage of a sale on Ancient Nutrition Multi-collagen. Surprise! It was not in the store and there was no shelf space dedicated to it. I sat down in the dining area to check my email for the sale. There was a large party of people seated in the dining area who were eating large quantities of McDonald's carryout. They were loud and obnoxious. I asked them to lower their voices. They rolled their eyes and mocked me. I asked them to have respect for others and they blamed the shouting on two of the teenagers who were mentally disabled; they called me a bigot. The woman next to me was the loudest and was quite disrespectful. We got into it, and she called an associate over who asked me to sit elsewhere. I had just purchased $100 of products and could not even sit down in a safe space. It was pretty ugly on both parts. The loud woman next to me pointed to my hearing aids and said that because of them, I was unable to hear. Apparently, she does not understand how hearing aids work and was insulting me because of my having a hearing disability.
The associate explained to me that I had to move because these people came there every day (implied: they had more rights than I did!).
I no longer feel safe at Whole Foods in Silver Spring MD and do not trust their sales emails that draw you in with no promise that the items will be in stock. I will no longer shop at any Whole Foods and will shop at local health stores such as MOMs. I would rather pay more and support a local business where I do not feel that my safety is in question or where I will be bullied by non-customers who are allowed to use Whole Foods facilities to consume foods not purchased at the store.
Later in the day, I called Ancient Nutrition, and they extended the discount on their products to me along with free shipping even though it was a Whole Foods sale, not one sponsored by the manufacturer.
Good bye, Whole Foods!

Former Loyal and Devoted WF Customer
I’ve been regularly shopping at WF in various states and cities (currently Annapolis, MD) for 10+ years, and have become increasingly disappointed in WF over the past year or so (seems to coincide with timing of Amazon purchase).
Here are my concerns:
The store is getting rid of good name brands - many trusted and beloved by customers - and introducing its 365 brand across all product offerings, which is mediocre at best. They are limiting product offerings as well, and now offer none or just one or two options (incl of course the 365 brand).
In addition, WF is drastically lowering the quality of its fish and meat products.
WF Meat: The model seems to be one that reduces the cost of products like steaks, grass fed ground beef, etc. which are allegedly the same products as before, but that is clearly not the case, as we have experienced time and time again. For example, WF previously offered very good quality New York strips for
$16.99/lb and after the Amazon purchase WF reduced the price to $13.99/lb. The problem is they are now clearly lower in quality than before.
The lower cost steaks are very tough and tasteless compared to the previous $16..99 version.
Simultaneously, WF introduced their “Prime” grade steaks for $19.99/lb., which are similar to the quality of the steaks they used to offer for $16.99! So now if we want the same decent quality steaks as before, we have to pay $3 more per pound!! WF did the same thing to the grass fed ground beef which used to be delicious and $9.99/lb and is now tough and chewy at $6.99/lb. However they do not offer a higher quality so customers are stuck with a bad product. I asked the meat dept staff if they changed vendors and they claimed no. However, they said they are no longer grinding the meat in store and receive it from some central distribution center. So who really knows? Hey WF, your Customers do - and it is def not the same! Do you think we are chumps?
Bottom line is you are throwing your money away on lousy quality steaks and grass fed ground beef if you opt for the lower priced and current versions. The irony is that now customers have to spend more $$$ to get the same decent quality products WF offered BEFORE they lowered prices!!
Oh and WF has driven all the butchers out of business, so now there are few alternatives for meat around here. Thankfully Wegmans is coming to Annapolis next year (YES). FYI their grass fed ground beef is well priced and delicious! They seem to respect and listen to their customers instead of pushing crappy products at ridiculously high prices.
WF Chicken: I love that WF carries organic Whole Chickens (at a higher price). However, I have to spend a good 20 min cleaning and plucking the thing before I roast it - that really skeeves me out and honks me off. WF, if you are going to offer organic whole chickens (your own brand!) at a dear price then please clean them properly!
Fish: The WF fish dept has sunk to new lows. Most seafood products now are previously frozen and consistently look old and anemic. Yet the prices are high and what you’d expect IF the fish was actually fresh. I get that some fish are going to be previously frozen but this has become more of the norm compared to my past experiences with WF fish dept.
WF Produce: don’t get me going. The WF produce selections are less than fresh even though some prices are lower. They have clearly sacrificed quality for lower prices. Problem is the “lower” prices are too high for the lousy quality produce WF is now offering.I’ve inadvertently bought more rotten produce (realized too late when preparing at home) than EVER before. Also WF runs out of common items too frequently, like limes, which I haven’t seen in weeks. Answer me this WF, why can’t we get fresh green beans in the middle of the freaking summer??? The ones you offer are consistently gross.
WF Bakery: never anything special but now even less so.
I could go on, but I have to sign off to drive 30+min to get to a decent grocery store. Hey Wegmans, can you pls expedite the new store opening in Annapolis??? We need you stat.
I am totally let down and feel played by WF, my former go to grocery store for good produce, meat and ok fish and the like.

I have been visiting this store at…
I have been visiting this store at Fresh Pond in Cambridge for a while now and this is the second time I have been severely ill treated by an employee from the fish department. Today he was so rude that he shouted inside the store pointing his fingers towards me. He mocked at me by changing his tone to a mocking format when he was talking to me and embarrassed me in front of everyone in the store. I believe you can take look at the video footage if you have any in the store. This is the second time, this same staff ill treated me and there was no action taken by the store customer care to prevent this from happen. I have already requested the customer care department last time, but there wasnt any action to prevent this recurring. Customer care is really terrible in this store. DONT visit this store if you don’t want to be embarrassed.

Poor Management and Discriminatory Values
I can't believe I am writing a review at about a company I once loved. They are discriminatory and lie about their employees who leave. I had to leave due to a medical condition and my team leader had me sign separation papers to my surprise later I found out without explaining to me I'd be ineligible for rehire at any whole foods store ever again. I was not doing well and my team leader was well aware of that so he should of went out of his way to explain what the separation of the company entailed but he did not. He then told the new store team leader I left without notice. I went on medical leave for two-three months and informed he I may not come back.
After my leave I called him and told him I couldn't stay. The management does not want people with illnesses to work for them. I am doing great and wanted to return but after finding out how management is I don't even want to come back to a company that tricks their employees so they can terminate them. I was a great employee I received many reviews and had many wonderful customers. It's a shame I had to go through this awful experience with Whole Foods.

GOOD-BYE WHOLE FOODS
You might as well shop at the Spartan, Sprouts, & Kroger stores for organic products rather than Whole Foods, because they have more selection since Amazon came into the picture. Whole Foods is really a joke now, unbelievably unhealthy, the products that are on their shelves some of them you can find at Walmart. CRAZY! Everything food item prepared is cooked and covered in Canola Oil, which is Genetically Modified, 90% of the Canola crop in the United Staties is GMO. I used to shop there 2-3 per week now I will not go into their stores, and will not until the REAL WHOLE FOODS RETURNS!
