I was disappointed with my experience at Whole Foods. While the selection was good, the prices were high and the customer service was lacking. The store was clean, but not worth the premium prices in my opinion.

Really do not like WF located on N Main st providence. The workers are not friendly. Will not return. I leave here in a bad mood. It never changes. I wonder if they go out of their way to hire unhappy people. It’s awful!Bellingham MA is so MUCH BETTER.

I have to go back to Whole Foods on Labor Day to return some items that when I read the ingredient labels, I knew were not appropriate for me. While looking at their list of holidays they are opened, I notice that according to Whole Foods, Cinco de Mayo is now an official American holiday. I guess they want to sell more product to "Gringos" who for some reason would celebrate this holiday. Cinco de Mayo (it is called by other names in Mexico) recognizes a victory by 2000 Mexican soldiers over 6000 French soldiers in 1862. This battle took place in a town called Puebla in Mexico. Outside of the Puebla area in Mexico, Cinco de Mayo is not celebrated by Mexicans. My many Hispanic friends who come from different parts of the world do not celebrate or even speak about the Battle of Puebla (Cinco de Mayo). But I guess that Whole Foods needs to invent holidays to push their product.

It's bad enough that Whole Foods is replacing all of the independently owned businesses from its shelves, but they also force online customers to choose only from their products by not showing other companies when you search their website (like Horizon and Organic Valley). They also force you to buy large quantities of fish and meat online and then they give you even more then you request. For example, I was forced to buy a minimum of 1.5 lbs. of chicken, but then the package I received weighed almost 2 lbs., which grossly inflated the cost of my purchase. I only wanted 1 lb. of chicken to begin with!!

I used to love Whole Foods. I’ve been going there regularly since 2008. Sadly it’s been in serious decline since Amazon bought them out. It’s just an unpleasant shopping experience now; even more sad since WF originally drove out so many of the truly local, family-run health food stores, and after selling out to Amazon, WF appears to be really struggling and likely will end up closing some stores. I hadn’t been inside one in a little while and going in today was very sad. Tons of items were missing, prices have skyrocketed to ridiculous amounts on many items, and they were noticeably understaffed. After spending so much, one would hope for better customer service at least, but that was a very mixed bag. Two staff members were friendly and helpful, but the one at checkout was gruff/barely acknowledging of my presence, and didn’t deign to lift a finger to help bag so I had to bag all my own groceries as well. Just a disappointing in-person experience overall and since Amazon also decided to get rid of the one remaining truly good benefit of being a Prime member, free WF deliveries, now charging $10 per delivery, we have ended our Prime membership and will only be shopping at WF when there are no other options around. I can think of at least 7 other grocery stores which consistently provide a much better experience (for health foods) than WF does now. All within a 15-20 min drive from us.
