We would like to clarify how this situation unfolded and address your concerns regarding communication and our membership commitments. • The Partnership History: For over 20 years—dating back to our partnership with Continental Airlines under CEO Gordon Bethune and continuing through the merger with United Airlines in 2012—we proudly offered a 5% United discount across all classes of service without any blackouts. Since our 2004 partnership launch, we never received any commissions, ad payments, or financial compensation from United for promoting their discount to our members; we asked United to forgo these payments and give them to you instead with a 5% ticket discount in a member program built purely based on our commitment to deliver you meaningful value. • Why the Change Occurred: Without prior warning, cause, or explanation from their current leadership—and despite the consistently strong offer performance that drove tens of millions in annual United revenue over the years—United abruptly decided to discontinue their WeSalute discount. While we were deeply disappointed by this decision, it was made entirely by United Airlines, not WeSalute. • Communication and Membership Cards: We announced and publicly advertised this discontinuation across member channels, and stopped offering the United discount to new members six months prior to the final effective date.
