Wallstreetoasis.com has a number of experienced industry professionals who contribute on certain discussion posts, mainly related to investment banking and private equity. The majority of users are high school and college kids who aspire towards a career in finance. The WSO database is helpful to provide insight into company reviews, interview details, and salary and bonus data for the many of the largest banking firms. The training modules are also very helpful. I purchased the DCF modeling course a while back and was pleased at how comprehensive it was. Also, I enjoy being able to throw “monkey s#i+” at users who offer less than helpful comments. I wish I had known about WallStreetOasis when I was younger. My career path would have been much less circuitous.

This platform has been tremendously important to me. First as a high school kid just trying to understand the industry, and now, ~5yrs into my career it is still insightful. I'm transitioning to the point where I provide answers, rather than ask the questions, as a way to give back to the community. The only improvements would be around tech. The website has a number of bugs, especially with commenting. I also am not the biggest fan of anonymous posting (I understand the merits, but there are some major drawbacks).

While recruiting for banking in undergrad, and also while switching jobs for buyside, WSO has been tremendously helpful. I think I naturally grew out of WSO because I felt that the majority of users were college students or analysts with 0-2 yrs of experience. Also, I now have enough network to leverage if I need to learn more about another firm. Nonetheless, I would recommend other job seekers to use WSO.

WSO is a great resource for aspiring bankers/finance professionals and I doubt I would have got into this business without the content of this forum. Keep up the good work!

I'm a veteran member of the WSO community (joined the forum in 2010) and have been active in various forms since then. I was previously a resume reviewer as well. WSO was integral in launching my career in the finance/consulting space, and even though I have since exited the industry, it continues to remain a fun place to hang out. 1 star off not for the fault of WSO so much as the population that makes up this industry; it is not always the most socio-politically correct and tends to use dark humor. This doesn't bother me at all, but I could see how it is not the most welcoming to all folks. Patrick (the CEO) and Andy (the COO) have steered this ship for over a decade and continue to remain engaged with the community, which is awesome.

I came across WSO when I was studying at Arizona State University as a foreign student looking to break into finance. WSO+BIWS provided me useful information to get a career start and exit from finance. You will find answers if you have a question. the community is fun, sometimes trolls but that's why its funny. Wall Street is a joke and you simply can't take it too seriously.

My mentor was really helpful, with regard to making me think of new ideas and incorporating them into my search. Would consider using him again when I have interviews lined up. I found the typeface for finding a mentor clunky. It was difficult to know when I purchased mentor ship that I had booked one session so I ended up booking twice !

Overall being very helpful along my career from a non-target student, BB IBD internship, BB IBD FT and now a HF analyst. Area of improvement: 1/ geographic diversity (EU and APAC); 2/ already pretty successful in BB IBD intern/FT space, but still alot process can be done in the HF, esp elite HF space.
