Too many people involved, it's overwhelming for the inexperience web builder. They nickel and dime you for design services that should be pretty simple, but purposely don't put adequate specs so when you attempt to design it yourself, it doesn't come out right. Only 1 revision allowed, 1 phone call. We opened an account early November, it is now end of January and my site is still not up. I am using Volusion as my merchant, of which they will profit from. If my site is not up, they don't profit. Nobody seems to really walk us through this unless we pay more money. I"m almost considering cancelling the entire thing.

After investing considerable time designing a Volusion site, and porting all our products from our existing site, we discovered that Volusion does not support 301 redirects for all pages, as advertised, and as we were assured verbally that they would. Only non-dynamic pages can be redirected properly. (It would be very unusual for an existing website of any complexity to list their products on non-dynamic pages, so I can't believe we're the first ecommerce site to have run into this problem.) Volusion says that there is no fix for this, and no plans for a fix. And, yet they still advertise that 301 redirects are available for all pages. Consequently, we lost (permanently) invaluable Google rankings for most of our products. No apology. No solution. Phone support is often very, very backlogged. And, the techs who do finally answer are poorly trained and rarely are able to help with anything that they can't read from a script or checklist. In total: stable platform, decent layouts and design, very poor technical support, and the 301 redirect issue is a huge problem for any established site looking to move to Volusion.

We feel it is very hard to navigate, help is slim pickens. Shipping rates are unreliable. We would not recommend if you are not familiar with making a web site.

We are penalized by Google for things that Volusion does that we cannot control. Lack of SEO technology; Limited flexibility for customizing end-customer experience with storefront.

The support staff is very helpful. The back end is easy to use. But being a large company that requires a lot of customization, we run into many issues. There are just many things that Volusion can't do/ won't allow. The biggest issue I've experienced is gross overcharging for bandwidth. They are not upfront about it, and then charge (literally) 1000% more than what you could get it for through Google Cloud or AWS. It wouldn't be the biggest deal, but they don't allow you to work around this. You either pay them or you leave Volusion. They try to tell you there is a value add in the framework, payment security, semi-dedicated server space and get this - NEWSLETTERS! But you already get all that with the most basic level of Volusion, it's just how they try to disguise the exorbitant repacking price of bandwidth.

Platform is old and dated. They have done no meaningful upgrades to it in 15 years. The ecommerce world has developed, evolved, advanced all while Volusion has stood still. My conversion rate is .01% and has been for 7 years. My customers come to the site, they leave because the process is not easy or simple. Volusion offers no solutions to remedy this, unless of course I'm willing to pay for more. The customer service reps I work with are all very friendly. They all have some very basic technical knowledge, but outside of that, they're not much help. It takes 2 to 3 days to get be able to speak to one of these reps, and forget about trying to talk to someone in the technical dept, they must have 3 people that work in that dept. Even Chat, which is supposed to take 5 to 10 mins at most, takes up to 3 hours for them to respond. I have two items that needed to be escalated that directly impact sales and my business, the one took a week and a half. The other has still not been addressed. The first, I have no idea if the situation has actually even been remedied yet.

A sales team pitch a phone/ tablet compatible version of Volusion. Only half of the information needed was given. We purchased the offer without really needed. After delivering a HORRIBLE product, which we could not accept, you would not return one cent of our money. We lost all trust in you and hired other companies to do the work we needed.

I had a lot of trouble getting my product out there on the web unless i would pay exorbitant amounts of money to several different promoters and one that called me was so persistant and rude i just wanted out so i cancelled my site even after paying for merchant accounts and a 1 year domain. Not for me thank you
