DO NOT contract with vivint if your in the market for home security!
Experienced issues with camera and door locks acting up. The customer service rep was overseas and I COULD NOT understand her most of the time! My wife was right there and she was having the same trouble. The appointment to replace the equipment (at no charge after speaking with numerous reps and 2 hours on the phone) was scheduled a week out. The technician replaced the camera and door locks and the camera worked but the door lock would only unlock.....and I mean it would unlock if it were locked and unlock if it were already unlocked, no matter what you hit on the control panel or app. I told my wife we could use the physical keys if we were leaving the house and when I tried those they wouldn't work either. Wrong keys supplied with door lock! The door is of no use to us at this point as we must lock it from inside manually and exit and enter a different door. When calling back to try to schedule someone to repair this cluster the rep (whom I had a difficult time understanding AGAIN) had the gall to tell me there would be a $99 tech fee for someone to come out and repair/replace the current door lock that didn't work! If your in the market for home security PLEASE look elsewhere other than vivint!!!!!

VIVINT A DISHONEST COMPANY
We have our System for 4 years and had considered moving to a different security company. We allowed a fast talking salesman come into our house with promises of their protection plan (that I had cancelled a week prior to him showing up) at $6.99 month. Well they said because we had cancelled that this plan was now blacked out for 12 months. WHY???? Instead of overriding this, they offered to give us 20% off of a $400 camera and waive the installation.
This is a dishonest company and I recommend to not sign up with them. Their customer service is a waste of time.

At the end of my contract of 12 years --I was misled that they would call back to review possible offers -told I wanted to cancel but would listen --they never called back ----no attempt at all --was of course charged another month ( month to month at this point ) called to to cancell again --had a complete idiot on the other line lost my cool with him said he would call back never did--called in 4 more times this week -no resolution --call drop --after being on hold during a conversation --finally got a supervisor --tried selling me the service again --declined --tried selling me services again --lost it --now I will be charegd again for faileure to give a 30 day notice ---this is all over $35 a month --they have lost a custmer and advocate for life --be very careful when you sign up ( yes they do lie during thier conversations ) make sure you fight to cancel if you choose to do so --shame that they play so ahrd to keep only to lose business --

Can't get Vivint to stop service. Don't trust them.
Billed me for 2 years after I cancelled. I have more than one account so didn't catch it. I called and they explained deletion was pending. After talking with someone who didn't speak English I get sent to a supervisor where I was on hold for 107 minutes before getting disconnected. I had to delete my ATM card or I would still be getting billed. Horrible to deal with. No refund. They suck hugely

I am writing this review to warn other consumers about my experience with Vivint.
I had been an ADT customer for approximately 13 years and was experiencing a battery failure on my alarm panel. While driving, I attempted to call ADT’s customer service number, 1-800-ADT-ASAP (1-800-238-2727), but accidentally dialed 1-800-237-2727.
The person who answered led me to believe I was speaking with ADT. During the call, he told me that ADT had completed a nationwide software update and that my older alarm panel was no longer compatible with their system. He stated that my equipment needed to be replaced before I could continue receiving service. He also told me that ADT no longer had a good signal in my Cypress, Texas area and suggested that I consider Vivint instead. He stated that ADT and Vivint were separate companies but affiliated and that he simply wanted to make sure I remained protected.
He then transferred me directly to a Vivint representative.
Based on the information I was given, I agreed to purchase a Vivint system. I paid cash for the equipment because I specifically wanted to avoid a long-term contract. The contract had to be corrected multiple times before it accurately reflected the terms we agreed upon.
Six days after installation, ADT charged my normal monthly monitoring fee. When I contacted ADT, I learned that the information I had been given was not true. ADT informed me that they had not performed a nationwide software update that rendered older panels unusable, that they continued to service my area, and that they had no record of the conversation I believed I had with an ADT representative.
At that point, I realized that I had been misled into switching providers.
I immediately contacted Vivint to cancel. I was told that I had missed the three-day cancellation period. I called again when instructed and was again told I could not cancel. After multiple calls, transfers, contradictory information, and several hours spent on the phone, Vivint finally agreed to process my cancellation.
As a result of this experience, I am out nearly $1,000 for equipment and monitoring costs and have spent countless hours attempting to resolve a situation that began with information that I now believe was misleading.
My concern is not simply that I switched security companies. My concern is that I made the decision based on representations that I later learned were inaccurate. Had I known the true facts, I would have remained with ADT and would never have purchased a Vivint system.
Consumers deserve transparent and honest sales practices. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Vivint.

Do not use this company for a security system. They will harass you, rip you off, and put you through hours of torture before cancelling your service. Now they are continuing to try to bill me after I have a letter of cancellation from them! Buyer beware!
