The best thing about VItagene is that you can see which genes influence the recommendations around supplements and diet; however, everything else is very general and I left feeling like they just want to get me on the hook to buy low quality vitamins that have a lot of fillers. If you did all recommendations, it is $43/month. Also, they are NOT transparent about how they handle your data and how to revoke permissions to use it. My recommendation: protect your identity and provide a pseudonym.

I found the menu suggestions nonsensical. They have us making an omelette out of 1/2 an egg. Yet in another recipe, they have an egg "scramble" with 2 1/2 eggs and 3 1/4 egg whites. In another recipe you use 1/4 tbsp of bell pepper. Yet another one for just 1/2 pound of pork loin, they have you eating 7 tsp of oregano and thyme. It looks like they put a computer algorithm in charge of recipes and never bothered to examine the results. I asked for clarification on "Ask Jade" and got no response. I feel like the whole thing is basically set up to get you on a monthly GNC "supplements" plan. The menu plan is cheap window dressing.

We are sorry that the food menu and supplement menu sections are not currently meeting your personal standards Lance. This is something we are currently working on updates for, one of the great things about Vitagene reports is that you will continue to receive free updates as genetic science evolves. A lot of the details in your report are in the Genetic Traits report where we show our work and report on the specific genetic SNP's found in your DNA sample that has led us to report what is being reported and even include links to the scientific studies that led us to what we reported. My name is Nate, I'm the Customer Success Manager here at Vitagene and I would be happy to help you personally. Please contact me at [email protected] and I will be happy to help you find answers to any questions you may still have about your personalized reports. Best, Nate Robinson Customer Success Manager

I can’t review because it is taking and excessively long time to be delivered
Response from VitageneJul 10, 2019
Hello, We are sorry to see that it has USPS and Amazon FBA has not delivered your package in the expected time after Vitagene had contracted these third party companies to deliver your package in a timely manner. I have personally looked in to your order to make sure you have received your order. The USPS tracking shows that your package should have arrived to you this past Monday. Please contact our customer support by emailing [email protected] for them to help you if you are ever having any issues with your Vitagene purchase. We are hoping you can possibly remove this negative review which is based on third party shipping companies instead of a Vitagene product performance and then write a review about Vitagene's actual service once you receive your results. This will allow us to help more people find actionable steps towards better help through DNA. Vitagene Support

its a Joke! All general comments. You would be better off going to a fortune teller or tarot card reader at the fair!!!!!

Hello, It sounds like you might not be accessing all of what has been provided. Our genetic traits report actually includes exactly which genetic SNP's that are connected to our findings and include links to the science studies that have reported these finding. Please contact us at [email protected] and we will be happy to help you find all of these details if you are not seeing these details. Vitagene Support

I went on line before I purchased the DNA test. On there was a woman explaining how satisfied she was and how beautifully the brochure was explaining how everything was laid out and explained.. In the Groupon description there was no mention that the hard copy was no longer available. When I e-mailed I was made to feel like a fool, because the video I saw was old and no longer was what was promised available. Had I not been duped I would not have gotten the test done. In the future full disclosure would be helpful.

Hello Marion, Please make sure to go to Vitagene.com for helpful full disclosure on what Vitagene offers at the time of purchase. We can not control what other people on the internet post, so if a reviewer posts a video that Vitagene had removed on August 8th 2017. That video would no longer be accurate information after that date as it would be outdated information shared by someone who does not represent Vitagene in anyway. That being said, we appreciate your feedback and would like to confirm with you that we are adding printing options to our report soon just incase you do not want to log into your report and read it online at anytime. Please, contact Vitagene's customer service at anytime if you would like them to walk you through your online report.

Super helpful, one of the best purchases I have ever made! Update 2026: This didn't age well since the company was forced to close for leaking genetic data.

They all seemed good. I only saw a few 1-star reviews so I bought this in January because I wanted to know about food allergies and my ancestry. I looked it up, read reviews on Amazon and the vitagene website. They all seemed good. I only saw a few 1-star reviews so I knew this was more of a gamble. I got the kit 3 days later, took the questionnaire (took about 15 minutes), swabbed my cheeks, and sent it off in the mail. I stalked fedex and saw that my sample sat in a texas fedex facility for 2 weeks which irked me. I got the results when they said I would though, however, the results were super vague. "You may or may not have an allergy/intolerance to gluten." Everything was "may be more likely to have....." or "may be less likely to have......." I never got a book of my results mailed to me which I saw in many people's reviews that they did. When I downloaded the zip report, it opened up with a bunch of gibberish. Now I keep getting emails from vitagene wanting me to buy supplements.Everywhere I looked on their website and the reviews, I kept seeing "detailed results/reports."
