Always went to the Merrimon Ave, Asheville, NC Valvoline for my oil change. For decades, no problems other than always messing up my tire pressure, however, the last time the guy obviously overtightened the oil drain plug because the next day I had oil spots on my driveway, so I looked under my car to discover a leak coming from the oil pan area. Zero spots on my driveway before and the next day spots where I was parked. My car is new straight, from a dealership and I had only been driving it for less than six months, so I took it back to the dealership to have them inspect it and they said it was from over torquing the drain plug, and replacement was the only option to stop the leak because the plug was stripped. Apparently, you have to replace more than just a simple plug when that happens, so I had to pay $1000 out of pocket with the labor! Zero issues before, as my car is new, and $1000 plus the price of the oil change for trusting this Valvoline for my oil change. I called Valvoline corporate and they said that they have tools that are designed to stop over torquing, but obviously that's not true in every situation because my car was certainly an exception. My friend who used to manage the Valvoline said it did still happen occasionally and it's not fool proof. Corporate basically told me I had no proof it was them. Why would I have no oil dripping in the previous 6 months and the next day oil in my driveway?! The dealership even wrote on my print out receipt that it was obvious what happened, but corporate said yeah, but you don't have proof. How else can I? So, basically, I paid $1100 for an oil change at this Valvoline. Obviously NEVER AGAIN!

Eric store manager flat out lied after…
Eric store manager flat out lied after technician provided gross negligence and did not screw oil cap back on leading to low oil pressure and further damage to my car. He stated he reviewed video but I was not allowed to view video without a court order which is untrue according to Valvoline customer care agent Alex. Claim denied escalated to manager who mysteriously no longer worked there in a four day time frame. District manager was to review and respond back. I stead he closed out claim no communication. To me and when I called back i. To customer care the call was disconnected.

I sent this complaint to the Valvoline…
I sent this complaint to the Valvoline Instant Oil Change Customer Service Department nine days ago with no response!
I am writing to formally complain about the service I received at your Valvoline Instant Oil Change location at 1075 Hospitality Lane, Fredericksburg, Virginia.
I initially came in for a routine oil change. During the visit, I was repeatedly offered additional services, all of which I politely declined. However, the salesperson, Anthony, continued to push these services and repeatedly lowered the price from the advertised amount. This practice struck me as unprofessional and misleading, as it suggests that customers may be charged different prices for the same services depending on how aggressively they negotiate.
When Anthony offered an air conditioning recharge service, I decided to consider it. I own a 2004 Dodge Dakota, and while the air conditioning was not perfect, it had been operating at approximately 75–80% efficiency for the three years I have owned the vehicle. I viewed the recharge as an opportunity to improve its performance before the summer months.
At no point was I informed that the service could take an extended period of time. Shortly after the work began, it became apparent that something was wrong. Two technicians appeared uncertain about how to proceed, repeatedly examining both the machine and my engine compartment. After they connected the equipment, I was left sitting in my truck for approximately 45 minutes in the heat while multiple technicians periodically approached the machine, looked at it, and appeared confused about what was happening.
Over the course of the next hour, no fewer than four technicians became involved. The only employee who seemed genuinely concerned with resolving the issue was Adeel, who eventually disconnected and reattached the equipment in an attempt to diagnose the problem. After another 15 minutes had passed, I finally asked him directly what was going on. He informed me that the system indicated a leak.
What I find most concerning is that Anthony, the employee who sold me the service, did not approach me during this entire process. Only after I had been waiting for approximately an hour did he finally come over and inform me that the air conditioning service would be removed from my bill. At no point did he explain why the process had taken so long, what had gone wrong, or what effect the attempted service may have had on my vehicle.
The most frustrating part of this experience is what happened afterward. Before arriving at your facility, my air conditioning system was functioning, albeit imperfectly, at roughly 75–80% capacity. After your technicians worked on the vehicle, it was no longer producing cold air at all. In practical terms, my air conditioning went from partially functional to completely nonfunctional. It appears that the refrigerant was removed during the attempted service and not restored, leaving me in a significantly worse position than when I arrived.
Your company includes the word "Instant" in its name, yet I was left waiting for over an hour without communication, updates, or any explanation of the problem. Had I been informed upfront that the service could take that long, or that complications had arisen, I could have made an informed decision about whether to proceed. Instead, I was left sitting in my vehicle, uncomfortable and increasingly frustrated, while employees struggled to diagnose an issue that they did not appear prepared to handle.
I am requesting that Valvoline investigate this incident and provide an appropriate resolution. At a minimum, I would like an explanation of what occurred, why my air conditioning system was left in worse condition than when I arrived, and what steps the company intends to take to correct the situation.
I am extending the courtesy of contacting you directly before sharing this experience publicly through reviews and consumer complaint channels. I hope Valvoline will take this matter seriously and work to resolve it promptly.

DO NOT GET AN OIL CHANGE OR ANY SERVICE…
DO NOT GET AN OIL CHANGE OR ANY SERVICE AT VALVOLINE!
Their technicians are either untrained or lazy. Their negligent behavior directly caused my skid plate to drag on the ground while driving 70 mph on the interstate.
While they so graciously refunded the cost of the oil change, which essentially admitted guilt, they refused to reimburse the cost of the tow, repairs, hotel & Lyft.
After calling Valvoline to make a claim, they said I would get a call back. Instead I had to call again after 4 days without hearing back from them. Ralph, the area manager, was absolutely rude and unapologetic. He is not a good representative of this company.

Took my car to Valvoline for an oil…
Took my car to Valvoline for an oil change. Whoever the person was damage the underbody cover while changing the oil. A week after I was in there I talk to one of the female managers there and she said they will take care of it after all the run around I talk to another manager a man and he finally told me I need to put in a claim but did not have the number for customer support so by the time I was able to find a number for customer support a couple of months when by so after I was able to put in a claim for the damage upper management denied my claim because of it has been months from my oil change. This company is horrible they don’t take responsibility for there wrong doing I will never go to this place ever again the cost of the repair was minimum but to lose a customer for life.

I had an oil change done by the…danielson valvoline
I had an oil change done by the valvoline in danielson Connecticut in March of 2025
I don't drive my truck much because I had a wheel bearing going bad. Finally got that taken care of. This past February I had to use my truck to get firewood to heat my house. Just when I arrived at my house turning into my driveway lights came on on the dashboard and no oil pressure. My neighbor that is a higley experienced mechanic checked out the codes. I didn't not start or drive the truck until he could check it out further. On may 25 2026 he pulled the oil filter out canister type and the stand tube was not in the filter causing the filter to implode due to no support from suction. Valvoline claims they can't help me. Because to much time has passed. I have been going to them since 2018 for both my truck and car. Luckily my engine did not blow up. I wonder how many other people have had this problem and ended up losing their vehicle because of their lack of responsibility of even taking care of the problem. I was only asking for less than 200 dollars to make it right for parts to fix it. Thank you. Stay away from them.

Avoid Valvoline and Groupon RIP OFFS
I had a Groupon I paid $72.99 for a FULL synthetic oil change. At the Valvoline Las Vegas at 2343 E. Warm Springs Road station I was charged $83.56 on 5/23/2026 for a synthetic oil change as per my receipt. No other service, JUST a synthetic oil change for a RAV4 that I ALREADY paid $72.99 with Groupon for a synthetic oild change. So, in total I paid $156.65 since the Groupon THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE USED AS THE FULL AMOUNT FOR $72.99 was NOT credited for the full amount. The whole oil change for SYNTHETIC OIL was supposed to be $72.99 which I had paid Groupon for. My husband took the car in and did not know that it was supposed to be fully covered. I called on 5/29/2026 and spoke to a CSR at Valvoline, Ty, and I was told I could only get $18.99 back. I AM BEING RIPPED OFF! AVOID this place as they will rip you off then try to get away with it. Groupon sucks, too! I would give ZERO stars, but there was no option for that!

15-Year Customer Until This Oil Change
I used this company for three consecutive oil change services for this vehicle between approximately 34,000 and 50,000 miles without any prior issues ever being documented or communicated regarding the oil drain plug or oil pan threads.
During my most recent oil change service on January 16, 2026, at this location, the oil pan threads failed during service, resulting in damage that required repair at my expense totaling over $640, including the service charge itself.
What bothered me most is that everything initially seemed normal until the end of the service. I felt rushed out without receiving their iconic final step of showing me the oil level before leaving. In over 15 years of being a customer, this had never happened to me before.
I was later informed the damage was considered “pre-existing,” despite no prior documentation or communication of any issue during earlier services involving repeated removal and reinstallation of the same drain plug.
I understand mechanical failures can happen, but situations like this are exactly why documentation and accountability matter. I would encourage customers to request written documentation of any observed thread wear or concerns during routine oil change services.
