I use Veo regularly, but on October 19, the app failed to register my attempt to end a short ride after I parked in a proper area. The ride kept running, and I was charged $35.31 for 3.01 hours and 14.53 miles. Support blamed a No-Ride Zone and a missing end-of-ride photo, refused a refund, and said its decision was final without meaningfully addressing my report that the app had failed.
I’ve also seen other Veo customer reviews describing similar problems: malfunctioning vehicles, app failures, and parking disputes followed by unexpected charges and generic responses from support. These reviews, along with my own experience, suggest that this may be a broader problem than it seems.
As a regular customer, I felt dismissed. Veo’s response gave me the impression that closing the complaint mattered more than carefully reviewing it and helping me. The $35.31 charge feels unjustified, practically like having that money stolen.

Customer service is useless
Customer service is useless.
1. I unlocked one of your scooters, and your app didn't recognize a reservation had started. It did not show the scooter was confirmed as reserved on the app at all - as though nothing was booked, though the scooter did make some noise. I had to fully/manually close the app on my mobile device and then reopen it before it even showed the reservation was active. That took 30-60 seconds by itself of unused time on the scooter.
2. Then, I turned the scooter around to start moving away from the location and hopped on to it. I immediately noticed that there was misalignment between the handle bars and the front wheel - significant, more than 25 or 30°. Typically, that is a very easy fix on bicycles and scooters. So I spent 10 seconds trying to see if perhaps it could easily be aligned, like any normal person might do when riding any kind of device like this. I quickly realized it was not a temporary issue and the front wheel was firmly out of place with the handlebars. This quick investigation was necessary to determine if it was something that could be easily remedied on my end without deeming a return of the scooter.
3. I then brought the scooter immediately back to the same location (I never got more than 5 yards away from the original location). I tried to return it, and it gave a warning that it was out of the location of return - completely false because I had literally put it back in the exact same spot. After scanning a few more times it finally worked, however, it asks to take a picture of the scooter at the location. The app would not accept the first photo, nor the second, nor the 3rd. It finally accepted the 4th or 5th picture.
I contacted Veo support and they are unwilling to provide a refund for the time billing because they said this reservation was booked for more than 3 minutes.
Under no circumstances will I be modifying this review, even if they solve the problem. You don't treat your customers this way. Period.

Couldn't figure out how to park while they're charging me extra and I'm driving it all over looking to end the ride.
Heard nothing from anybody in Customer Service!!! Had to figure it out myself meanwhile, they're collecting extra money on the ride because you can't find a place to end ride. Over $5 to go a mile? Bus is cheaper. And since you can't park anywhere, and you scam extra charges, I won't be using this service again.

Complete scam
Complete scam. There were a line of ten scooters parked in a no-ride zone and it was exhausting trying to drag the scooters into a ride zone that was one block long. Why are so many scooters lined up in a no ride zone like this? Completely useless. Also, I was charged $75 because I couldn’t end my ride in the app, even though I wasn’t riding because I was in a no ride zone. The app is useless. Horrible experience.

Absolutely horrendous experience.
Absolutely horrendous experience.
We hired as a group, but only one of us could even create an account because the app wouldn’t accept international numbers with eSIMs.
The first scooter died in an area where you weren’t allowed to end the ride, so we had to push it for several kilometres just to find a place where we could swap it.
We finally got a replacement, but the original rental never stopped charging.
Then, while riding on the Venice Beach bike path, the replacement bike repeatedly claimed we were in a “restricted area,” cut the motor, and forced us to pedal for kilometres. Not easy when you’re 5’10” and the seat won’t adjust high enough.
In the end, we had to abandon the bikes because the app wouldn’t let us pause or end the hire. We reported everything immediately through the app and uploaded photos and videos as evidence.
Despite all of that, we’ve now been charged $120.
Avoid this service. Terrible equipment, a broken app, and even worse customer support.

Charged $120 for two units that didn’t work
Horrendous experience doing a group hire as only one person was able to set up account due to international number restrictions with esims. first scooter died in an area where you weren’t allowed to leave it so had to walk a few kms with the scooter to find a replacement. Switched but the original hire kept going. Was on Venice beach BIKE PATH replacement started having error that we were in “restricted area” and choked the motor so had to pedal for a few kms not easy when you 5 10 and the seats that low. Abandoned bikes was unable to pause or stop hire, raised issue on app, took photos and video as evidence and this morning we’ve been charged $120. Do not use!!!!!

I’d give these a minus score if I…
I’d give these a minus score if I could.
Jumped on a bike and got it going for all of .2 of a mile.
It powered down and failed to operate.
Unbeknown to me Veo was still charging my card $10 every 50mins.
They have now refused to refund me any monies saying I’d abandoned the bike even after I’d explained the situation fully.
PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY THEY HAVE ZERO BUSINESS ETHICS.

Fraudulent Charge After Not Being Able to End Ride
On this particular day, I got on a scooter and attempted to ride home. About halfway there, the scooter shut off. No lights, no power, just off. The app let me end the ride and I got one of the bikes. “No problem, I’ll just report the issue to them in the morning. It’s just an extra dollar” I think. Then, about 5 blocks from home, the bike did the exact same thing. No lights, no power, just off. I wasn’t in a parking area at the time, so I checked my app and just rolled the bike to the area before attempting to end the ride. The ride would not end. Nothing happened when I pressed “end ride” and the bike was still fully off. “Whatever, I’ll just wait a minute and see if it lets me end” I think. I ended up waiting for a solid hour before the app let me end the ride. To be clear, this was not a case of “maybe you were on the wrong screen” or “maybe your camera didn't have access to the app” but I had used Veo maybe a week prior with zero issues. The “end ride” button was just a nice blob of color with text that did nothing. When I checked my route on the map, it showed that I had briefly crossed over Speer Blvd at Bannock, and that apparently caused the bike to die. (Side point: Why is the ENTIRETY of the Cherry Creek BIKE path red? These are BIKES. 2 wheeled things. Electric bikes to in there all the time. Lime and Bird had zero issues. Whatever…)
When this was reported to Veo support, they stated the following verbatim: [After reviewing your case, I can confirm that we're unable to provide an adjustment or refund for this ride. Our records show that the scooter was not parked in an approved parking location and that the ride remained active after you left the vehicle. Riders are responsible for ensuring that their ride has been successfully ended in the Veo app before walking away from the scooter. If a ride remains active, charges will continue to accrue until the ride is properly ended. To help avoid unwanted charges in the future, please be sure to use the Veo app to locate approved parking areas before ending your ride. We also strongly recommend confirming that you have received the ride-ended confirmation in the app before leaving the scooter.]
All of their response is false.
You want me to park in a specific area? I did. They sent a screenshot with a pin showing where the scooter died, not where I dragged it to because I hate seeing these things in the middle of the sidewalk.
You want me to end the ride? I couldn’t. Button ain't do jack. What do you want me to do?
You want me to stay with it if the ride doesn't end? I did.
I left the ride? Prove it. I was sitting next to it to make sure no one started using the bike on my dime. I guess I should've paid more attention to Veo itself because they got an extra $15 from me...
They also blamed the scooters shutting off on “you picked ones with low battery” when they had 15+ miles. The utter gall to suggest I'm dumb enough to look at a scooter with 2 miles of range and then attempt tombo 3 miles is insane and insulting to me.
Veo support is extremely rigid in their policies and are unwilling to explain the proper procedure in these situations. I asked specifically “ If riders are responsible for ending their rides, what is the expected course of action when the app or vehicle prevents them from doing so?” and have received no reply yet (it has been 2 weeks). Reached out again today to the stupidvisor, hopefully he has the brainpower to email back sometime this month.
Do better, Veo.
