DO NOT USE A COMPLETE SCAM! This company took my payment and then sold my information to other companies. NO MOVING COMPANY SHOWED UP!!!! I am mortified I reported them as fraud to my bank and now I have to hire another company to move my things!! DO NOT let them be your last minute option they are a total scam!

I first encountered VAM in April of this year when I requested two separate quotes. I decided to allow them to handle the major part of the move, which would be moving a 1,00 sq. foot 2 BDR apartment roughly 2 miles. The furniture was gone over in detail, and, to my dismay, they required a $1,400 deposit for a $ 2,400 job. Originally, they quoted me $3,200, and I told them they were insane. RED FLAG No.1. Then, when I went to pay with a credit card, they imposed a 25% service fee, which I haggled down to 10%. RED FLAG No 2. Moving day, no show, and then somewhere around 10 AM, after I called inquiring about their whereabouts, their truck broke down, but would be there tomorrow. June 2nd, 7:15 AM, they show, and in comes a young adult boy wearing flip flops and an inside-out T-shirt with a new tag hanging out the back of his neck. We walk through the apartment, and all he is doing is shaking his head and mumbling no, no. Perplexed, I asked what was wrong, and he informed me that I signed up for a 500 cubic foot move. I expressed that he was incorrect and that they were to move the furniture. His manager called me, stating that I, in fact, signed for this, and they would be happy to move the 500 cubic feet, with the expectation of the remaining $1,150. I informed him that I would never pay that amount for moving, which he informed me, "And you're not getting your down payment back!" It was at this time that I told all of them to get the F out of my apartment, and called the company that moved the boxes for me the month before. STAY AWAY FROM VAM! I am not done dealing with them.

Do not use this company and do not let the draft money from your account. There is a 72 hour refund clause on their contract but they say drafts are ineligible for refunds. The kicker is they won’t let you use a credit card. I know because I asked. They use sales tactics that make you feel like you are missing out if you don’t commit that day. Horrible operation…steer clear of them.

This company is a complete rip-off. They give you one estimate when you show up. They start talking about cubic feet. Which is never discussed in the original contract. They will screw you every chance they get.Do not use them run away.

EDIT 8/27/2026: They are now replying to customers who left negative reviews, saying this is the wrong company. It's not. I was listed as Value Added Moving when we posted our reviews, AND it's still listed as valueaddedmoving.com... they are seriously not to be trusted I went with this company because they had good reviews on Google, and the associate was very polite and helpful; but, I should've checked here too, since it looks like a number of fake reviews were removed on this platform, and interestingly, the company only replies to good reviews on Google and doesn't address anyone who complains. The representative I booked with, Thomas, scheduled my pickup for 5/24 (TX), so that my items would be there within a few days of my move-in date, 6/2 (CA), because they had space on a truck that was on this route around this time. He said they worked with movers they had a good working relationship with, and that I could contact him at any point in time during the moving process. Not only was the estimate they gave me wrong, so I ended up paying more than quoted on the QA call, the movers were 6 hours late and literally just picked up my stuff in Austin to take it to a warehouse in Houston, where they are still sitting, and Thomas won't return any of my calls. I'm in an entirely new place with only my laptop, a carry-on, and zero information as to when they will finally drive my stuff to California... there was literally no point in them picking up my items so early. They do NOT have a close relationship with the movers, who also insinuated that this was not a good company. The moving company just said they have 12 business days from the first available delivery date to get me my items, and they would contact me when my load was added to a truck, as they were still looking for a driver... And when I called Value Added's customer service, they said there's nothing they can do once the items are picked up and to call the moving company moving forward. SAVE YOUR MONEY! You are better off working with an actual moving company directly. UPDATE: Finally getting my stuff delivered tomorrow and paying over a $1,000 more than projected because the moving company has additional fees that were not discussed when I signed with the broker, AND was just flat out given inaccurate information. I'm furious.

This company is a full blown SCAM. The man I spoke to on the phone assured me multiple times my payment was fully refundable and FAILED to tell me it was only refundable for 72hrs. After doing some research I decided this company was not trustworthy and wanted to cancel my move. That is the first time ANYONE spoke to me about it only being refundable for 72hrs. When they sent me the cancellation request form the last line details that certain payment types including the payment type my coordinator asked me for, is non refundable 100% of the time. This man, Jakob White, NEVER told me this form of payment would be non refundable. So even if I had called within the 72hr time period he never told me about, the form of payment he asked for would not have been refundable anyway. This company is a fraud, do not trust them.

ABSOLUTE SCAM. Stay away from this company. Thomas Kemp and specially Samantha Lewis were of no help. Sold a quote and after cashing the deal they disappeared. I described item per item with its measurement and asked multiple times I didn’t want surprises the day of the moving, I’d rather be over quoted if that makes sense. Day of the moving, the actual movers (because value added are BROKERS, do not own the trucks) said the cubic feet was not even close to the real one and Value added wanted to DOUBLE my Contract value. For a 1 bed apt I was quoted 600 cf for 4390. Out of a sudden it was 900 cf for 9500!!!!!. Absolutely bananas. DO NOT TRUST THIS PEOPLE. The actual movers were very patient though, not their fault. OHHH and surprise surprise, they didn’t even have the quote were we paid for FULL PREMIUM PACKAGING.. as I said, STAY AWAY

Needed to move cross country. Found Value Added Moving company on the internet. Gave them list of items to ship (couches, fridge, washer, dryer, dresser, etc). Got a quote for the listed items with total shipping price of $3K which was a good price I thought. Did 50% deposit. On the pickup date, the moving company arrived and after reviewing, I was told that I need to pay additional $5K due to items being "too big, non-standard size". So, either I pay $5K extra or lose my deposit for refusing the service. I decided that I will not be duped and decided to fight it out by contacting credit card for the "bait and switch" tactic by luring with the low price and getting the deposit and over charging when the date came. Lose the deposit or pay up more. If I cannot get refund through credit card, plan to take them to the small claims court. Also, I plan to contact the small business or any agency that monitors business practices. I plan to also report this to the Florida state attorney and file a complaint for letting this fraudster be in business in their state. We, as a consumer must fight these fraudsters, bottom feeders, scum of the earth who pray on the weak.
