**TL/DR** Irresponsible representative, pawned off on a mover with horrific reviews (Handle With Care), charged thousands more than quoted, and items delivered later than I was told If I could give zero stars, I would. Representative quoted me $2,700 without asking for photos/cf of my belongings OR sending someone to evaluate, and told me it would be 7-10 days before delivery. He didn't explain anything about how charges worked or how the warehouse storage/interstate move process went, and he didn't tell me who would be moving my things. Incidentally, he also pulled a friendly-salesman move by excitedly saying he had friends who'd just visited the (VERY off-the-beaten-path) country we'd just moved here from, something I now doubt... A tiny detail that later made me feel betrayed on a personal level in addition to a professional one. The moving company he engaged for my move, Handle With Care, has some of the worst reviews and customer service in the business (something you can verify for yourself). They were a day later than planned arriving to pick things up, I had to call Value Added customer service repeatedly to get any information about where my belongings went after pickup, my things made it to their final destination a full 28 days later (not 7-10), and the final cost was $8,200 rather than $2,700 (meaning no Christmas this year). Two pieces of furniture were smashed beyond repair and five others were missing. None of this would've happened if the rep had done his job thoroughly and honestly. MAYBE some of this could have also been avoided if Value Added worked with more scrupulous and professional moving companies, as well. I strongly recommend that they cut ties with Handle With Care. Until such time as they do, I recommend that you look elsewhere for a moving broker/mover.

Read the negative reviews. They are the only real ones! Everything about this scam broker is corrupt. Have co reacted AG office here and pursuing a law suit as they are cons.

Unfortunately there’s no option for 0 stars here. @Trustpilot you should completely remove this business from your site. There is absolutely no way any of these 5 Star reviews are anything but a fabrication of lies. We’ve unfortunately learned a very hard lesson on the trustworthiness of moving companies and brokers. The binding estimate that was supplied was under half of what was expected as payment on the moving date and the movers weren’t even able to collect all of our belongings included in the estimate. Being that we had to be out of our home on the day they arrived, and the movers had already completely loaded the truck, we couldn’t back out of our plans and we’re stuck with the bill. Yes, value added is a broker, but the movers that arrived on our scheduled date were a subcontractor to the subcontractor. This was not communicated to us or agreed upon in the contract that we originally signed. The guys that showed up arrived in a budget rental car most likely using illegal workers being paid next to nothing. As a normal human being I felt bad as the workers didn’t bring or have any water with them, which I graciously supplied, seeing they were struggling with the work. One of them didn’t even have shoes, and was wearing flip flops. The head of the crew had the audacity to ask me to tip the team after charging me an additional $7k on top of what we had originally been quoted. Keep this in mind as the type of companies that value added associates themselves with. I could honestly go on and on but I’ll save my input for higher visibility outlets. I will be filing complaints with the BBB, FMCSA, ATA and the Attorney Generals in multiple states to do whatever I can to put pressure for the revocation of licenses to operate. Edit: Our belongings still havent been delivered to our new home. Our first available move in date is 10/28. I’ll be updating my review as this progresses.

The proof is in the pudding. While they are a “legit” company as in they are registered with the DOT, they are in violation of the DOT requirements on at least 6 counts. Trust pilot also had this to say at the top of their page on this company: “ We’ve detected a number of fake reviews for this company and we’ve removed them. If additional suspicious reviews are discovered on this profile, we’ll remove those too. If you believe a review is fake, you can flag it. We take the integrity of our platform very seriously, and wanted to let you know this company hasn’t been playing by the rules. When we uncover misuse, we take action and alert our community.” Which means they’ve been coming on here to write 5-star reviews to drown the real 1-star reviews. We luckily started to sense they were a scam after doing further research. They ask for a large deposit, they asked for the deposit to be paid cash or bank wire, (they didn’t want credit payments), they don’t have a real official name, like when they call or you call them it doesn’t pick up with an official name—they claim to be a moving company when they are a broker… they are required to have the moving companies they work with listed on their site and they don’t… and the list goes on. These are signs that you are working with shady ppl. We luckily backed out (they almost didn’t let us, but we figured if we took them to court their violations would be brought to light, so they let us cancel), they didn’t pay back our deposit of $1800+… we went with a legit company who quoted us higher but the deposit was only $150. That is a normal deposit. Anyway all that to say steer clear, they are shady. Update: funny they replied saying this wasn’t a genuine experience. Luckily I have all the communications recorded in a file with value added. I booked with them and then after paying the deposit (they only wanted cash wire or debit…) I never heard from them even tho we texted, emailed and called. They finally called us back after the no-cancellation window— suspicious? Yes. And then told us we can’t cancel. Until we insisted and shared all our attempts to contact without any reply.

I wanted to write this review because I seem to have had the same experience as other 1 star reviewers. Short version, DO NOT use this company, they are just a brokerage that says a bunch of nice pleasant sounding things and then gives the job to some random moving company that does not follow through on the promises. You pay extra and don't even know who is moving your stuff. They don't care about you once the deposit is in. I was quoted ~$3,500 and the end total was ~$7,500. For anyone who wants the long version... I called around and Value Added gave me the best price. They won me over with promises like, "PROFESSIONAL MOVERS that are not day laborers so they know what they are going." We did a walkthrough of my home over the phone (DO NOT DO THIS) and I answered every question properly about what I was needing to move. Turns out, just like others have mentioned, the person from Value Added's estimation was HALF the size of what we needed. So, once the movers showed up (2 days late) they literally doubled the price. I ran a rough estimation of cost and space, and apparently I was "hiding" 12 COUCHES worth of items that they did not account for. Insane how off it was. Countless things increased in price once the actual movers got into the picture. And these were definitely NOT PROFESSIONAL MOVERS. Upon arrival, plenty of fragile items not wrapped or literally just dumped into boxes. PS4 no wrapping, cords still plugged in, on bottom of box with a rusty metal item. The main man who arrived didn't even know some of the people who were unloading the truck. He was asking people walking around my neighborhood if they were the people supposed to help him. I called Value Added to try and understand how this all happened. The person was pleasant to talk with but was by no means sympathetic to anything. You are better off just selecting the movers directly. Instead of being passed to three different people/companies with terrible communication all around.

This company is a scam. Their contract literally takes away all of their responsibility in selling your bid to the cheapest company possible. The company they hired to move our stuff just contracts people out with a rented truck. They lost 1000s worth of my belongings including my babies crib. I’ve made so many calls and they finally send me a lost/damage claim to fill out and it seems super fake. It’s terms and conditions basically say they are not liable for anything and if you want to go to court you have to do so in FL. It’s all a bunch of bull. So sad that I was taken advantage of. I have learned my lesson. Edit: this company is basically threatening me by saying we will only help you, if you change this review. I really hope people look at this review and choose not to use this company. I read the bad reviews and still decided to proceed with this company. Big regret. I’m sure a nice robotic reply will follow, but they take no responsibility for the bad companies ( if you can call two guys and a rented truck a company) that they put your valuables in the hands of.

TL;DR: Value Added Moving is a third-party entity, a broker, that will resell your job to a local moving company with little transparency and vetting. Local moving company was an utter disaster, held my stuff for 2 months, kept on breaking promises, hard to communicate with, and refused to deliver the last leg into NYC, forcing me to hire and pay for another company. I called Value Added Moving early June 2021 to hire them for a long-distance move from California to NYC. The person on the phone was nice and took a rough inventory of all the things I had. They assured me that the quoted price will cover everything and that their movers will do everything from packing, long-distance moving, moving into the apartment and unpacking. My move-in date was early July, so there was a 1-month heads up. I paid the deposit (about 24% of total quote). On move out day, two guys arrived in a rented U-Haul. After some talking, I figured that they are a local moving company (Ciao Bella of Irvine, CA). The original deposit I paid goes to Value Added Moving, but they take the rest. They explained to me a slightly different/higher quote and noted that they cannot deliver into Manhattan, NY unless I pay them an additional $400 “shuttle fee”. I called Value Added Moving but they told me that this shouldn’t happen, but that I need to deal with the local company directly. In the end, I accepted their offer, which was a huge mistake. 3 weeks later, when the move-in approached, I called Ciao Bella and to my horror found out that my stuff still hasn’t left California. The owner of Ciao Bella claimed that I was not ready in NYC to pick up. I asked them to deliver ASAP, and the owner kept on promising that he has a “truck leaving to NY next week”. Unfortunately he kept on saying this for the next ~4 weeks. It was dehumanizing; communication was terrible (he didn’t call back or reply to my texts). At one point, I was afraid I was scammed. I called Value Added Moving again who felt bad for the situation, but basically said that it’s out of their hands, and that I need to work with the local company directly. Come early August 2021, the stuff finally arrived on the east coast. However, the owner refused to deliver the stuff into Manhattan, even with the $400 fee he originally quoted. Plus, his company cannot provide a certificate of insurance that our building requires. To make a long story short, I had to hire another local moving company to come pick up all my stuff from a Penske truck parked in a parking lot in New Jersey. This was shady and super stressful. In the end, one of my boxes disappeared, some parts of my bed frame was not delivered, and I was delivered an extra TV (I don’t own a TV) and some extra chairs and table that don’t belong to me (I returned them both in a separate trip back to New Jersey). I don’t recommend people go through a reseller like Value Added Moving. They apparently don’t vet their local companies well enough, nor do you have any transparency or accountability.
