They jack up the dwelling coverage limit on your home, when it it not even worth that, to try to increase the premium they collect. RCE is not even coming in at the same amount. They are trying to cancel my insurance because the brokers did not increase dwelling coverage to twice what the home is worth. Worst experience ever. Would not recommend.

UPCIC manages its risks responsibly. This means ensuring there is proper coverage limits.

They collect premiums
They collect premiums, but when I tried to make a claim, some B yelled at me like I was a crook!
My impression is that they take money from people and do not pay out.

They canceled just because.
They canceled my policy on my FHA house because Underwriting Cancellation
Roof is in unacceptable and/or below average condition. There is a tarp on the roof.
Roof is in unacceptable and/or below average condition. The roof has excessive granular loss.
The dwelling is unsafe and/or in poor condition. The dwelling has boarded window(s) I uploaded all the information that they required and they still insisted that the pictures are not good enough. I have been in my house since November, no boarded windows no deterioration of any kind. I don't understand how the hell did I get my house if it wasn't livable and when I suggested "let's have a live meeting" they didn't do that either. Didn't get anywhere with customer service, thanks for nothing!!!
Response from Universal Property & Casualty InsuranceFeb 20, 2025
We received appraisal photos to justify there is no tarp on roof.
But appraisal photos do not reflect clear roof angles to determine condition. Proof of boarded windows repair is also needed. The requested documentation was unacceptable. As stated on the appraisal, this type of inspection is to determine market value, not to point out any defects in the home. We sent out this request in mid-December.

Made a payment online with policy…
Made a payment online with policy number, I entered my routing number and account number for my bank, then didn't even get a confirmation number or transaction number nothing only went onto next page with thank you! your payment was submitted. But I have no receipt so if they say I didn't pay or have no proof they can cancel the policy which is similar of what they did in October right before the hurricane but they said they sent the agent paper for us to sign they or I never got them and when we renewed the policy we didn't have to sign anything new when I reread the policy papers they were the same as the previous policy only this time it was a higher amount to pay.

Regarding a rate increase, rate and rate increases are carefully examined by reinsurers to determine the cost of a risk in a certain area (s). One part of the equation is an inflation guard that may raise the coverage on your home annually to protect against (inflation) the rise in construction costs. You are likely aware; we most recently experienced an extreme increase in construction costs during the pandemic and inflation had reached its highest level since 1982.
Many of our competitors have filed for liquidation over the last few years. UPCIC has always been rate adequate and manages their risks responsibly. This has enabled the company to continue on, even having been through almost 30 major storms in over 25 years.
These overall rate increases are not necessarily specific to one property but rather a specific area. Frivolous lawsuits as well as recent catastrophic hurricane events (Hurricanes Milton and Helene) may also be considered when analyzing rate. UPCIC is not immune to these events and all homeowner insurance carriers, specifically in Florida have been greatly affected. In most circumstances, UPCIC offers a much broader coverage than our competitors. We hope this helps.

DO NOT TRUST UNIVERSAL PROPERTY AND CASUALTY INS.
I have been a loyal premium payer for over 14 years with Universal Property and Casualty Insurance. I was always on time with my payments and on good terms with the company. At the time when hurricane Milton hit us in Bradenton, FL on October 7, 2024, our roof was destroyed and the seals to our ventilation pipes busted due to wind. I contacted Universal Property that we have been hit and we have damage to our house. No flooding, but extreme wind damage that caused our roof to be blown apart and the seals around our ventilation pipes to break. They said we will get a field estimator to come out. Because our entire neighborhood was torn to shreds by the hurricane, another field adjuster not assigned to estimate the damages said he is in the area and he can do the estimate soon. So I agreed. He stepped into our house, looked around for 2 minutes, and said that all this damage was caused by you and not the hurricane. Sure there are 4 shingles missing from your roof, but you can patch that up. He then left my house. Two weeks later, I get a BAD FAITH estimate from Universal Property and their claims adjuster company, Alder Adjusting, a letter stating your claim is under your hurricane deductible so we owe you nothing. Despicable!! I immediately contacted a PA and emailed the CEO and upper management of the company and demanded action. You will not shove me under the carpet!! Now thru fear, they still don’t want give me what I need to fix my house because they donated nearly $8 million to charities to hide their bad faith attempts to cover it all up. Shame on Property and Casulty Insurance!
Response from Universal Property & Casualty InsuranceFeb 13, 2025
It appears three separate payments were issued and cleared. To be transparent, the PA was hired at the very beginning of the claim. As you are aware, due to a third party's involvement, we are unable to communicate the facts of this claim on this platform.

They are the worst
They are the worst. I did sign up. Once I hung up the phone with in 8 minutes after I hung up. I got a link sent with my policy. I was impressed it was so quick. I read the policy, and it was completely different from what I was told on the phone. I immediately called. I tried to cancel they were so rude and refused said it had to be in writing. Fine I request online and sent an email. Still nothing. It took 4 days before finally I got an email confirming it was canceled, but that was not the end of their horrible practices. Nine days later they still took money from my escrow account. I called they were so rude said it would be canceled in about two weeks once cancelled took 15 days to issue a refund. I repeatedly emailed and was ignored for 10 days finally I got an email on the 31st of January stating they would expedite my refund. It's the 11th of February still no refund. I have been emailing daily since the 7th and they have not responded. I have been dealing with them for over a month. I can't imagine how horrible they would be if filing a claim. Think long and hard before purchasing a policy from this awful company. If you're filing a claim, you're probably already stressed they go out of their way to make it miserable!
I got an email on the 31st that my check will be expedited sent with in 24 to 48 business hours....it's been 14 days! Is it also 30 days to pay out on a claim too??? That's so sad! Not yo mention I was lied to again. On the 18th I got an email stating I had to wait till 1st of Feb to have refund issued and then it took up to 15days. Then I asked for a rush. On 31st I got email stating you would expedite 24 to 48 business hours. Now you're saying 30 days! Ypu proved my point. Lies
Response from Universal Property & Casualty InsuranceFeb 13, 2025
All phone calls are recorded. Our team treated you kindly and with empathy. The refund was issued to the mortgagee on 1/31/2025. It can take up to thirty (30) days for a payment to post to the escrow account. UPCIC sent an email on 1/31 advising that we were expediting the refund to the mortgagee, and we issued the check the very same day. We hope this helps clarify the circumstances surrounding your refund.

This company is the worst on the…
This company is the worst on the market. They refused to renew my policy falsely accusing me of having a business on my property. They will lie to cancel your policy, do not, do business with them!
Response from Universal Property & Casualty InsuranceFeb 13, 2025
UPCIC does not accept dwellings with businesses being run on the property including dog kennel businesses. Additionally, UPCIC does not accept certain breeds of dogs. In the case regarding your policy, the documentation provided to UPCIC has been reviewed and cancelation has been confirmed.

Zero stars these morons never sent the…
Zero stars these morons never sent the paperwork to my mortgage company which I have a receipt to prove the payment cleared. Here we are 1 year later we didn’t have insurance all year and they failed to notify the mortgage company. Universal returned the payment to some completely different company and said I should’ve reached out. Why should I reach out when I got the receipt confirming it was paid. This company will be getting sued for sure. I’m not responsible for any penalty’s since they messed up. Only way to fix this before I file a suit is to make this right with a new policy for a low price. They want me to do their job for them? Then what am I paying you morons for what a joke if my house burned down guess who would’ve been getting sued for millions you guys. You have 24 hrs to reach out to me and make this right. Sincerely ms Becker
