Good service, when it works
I had a Uganda Airlines flight booked Entebbe to Dar es Salaam, and then onward from Dar to Lusaka on Tanzanian Airways, and then back to Entebbe on Uganda Airlines. The flight to Dar was cancelled while the plane was actually on the runway to take off. Rescheduled for 24 hours later, but that would have made us miss our meeting in Dar. So we cancelled the Dar leg and lost our money on the Dar to Lusaka leg. Tanzanian Airlines said, quite rightly, that it had nothing to do with them. We then had to buy a ticket on Rwanda to get to Lusaka. All in all, it caused us to miss critical meetings and lose significant money. The flight on Uganda Airways from Lusaka to Entebbe, however, was great. Left and arrived early, good food, great service and all in all right up there with top-class airlines. So a really mixed bag. When it works, it is great. But who can count on it? Reliability, as the airline recognises, is a real issue. I will avoid them, unfortunately, until they sort out their reliability issues. And I am looking for 95% plus on-time departures.
