Polishing with a clean, dry microfiber cloth removes it, and clean wiper blades help keep the glass clear. On the product itself: one applicator covers about 10 windshield applications, and each application lasts up to 3 months, depending on the weather and how often the car is washed. Hi Dayna, We're sorry the result was disappointing, especially after the care your husband took with the application. A smeary residue that shows in the sun is product that dried on the glass before it was fully rinsed. It comes off when the glass is polished with a clean, dry microfiber cloth, and rinsing each section with clean water while it is still wet, then wiping it dry, keeps it from coming back.
