I bought a trek slash for my son. This was purchased new and its an extremely disappointing bike. We ride together and my giant has done the same amount of work as his trek with no problems and the trek at 1 year old needed bearings, bottom bracket, new rear wheel, dropper post fixed, new chain and sprockets plus brake pads and tyres. I would NEVER buy another as they aren't worth the money

Horrible bike for the price
Brought a trek slash 8 brand new after a year I spent 2k on getting it fixed and it’s always rattling and all my mates that have trek have the same problems as me. For the price I payed it’s so disappointing it’s got way to much bontrager which is pretty bad and the bearing are awful.

Worst Quality Bike ever owned
Just the worst quality bike I’ve ever owned (Trek Domane)
In 1 year I’ve had to replace The back wheel twice, The saddle bolt,The bottom bracket, The cassette, The chain, The back brakes, Both tyres and more that I’ve forgotten
I’ve honestly spent more on the bike than what I paid for the bike
It’s quite obvious that these are built with cheap components that wont last so the customer is forced to return time after time to get it fixed racking up more money on top of what was paid for the bike
I’ve had no help from Trek (Battersea) as they say these are all wearable parts not covered under warranty so basically the only part that’s not wearable is the frame
I would highly recommend you stay away from this company at all costs unless you want to spend more in the long run

Shocked at how Trek have handled this!
Two Trek branches said I could put a pannier rack on any Trek bike. So I ordered any Trek bike and put a pannier rack on it. I brought the Trek Procaliber 9.5 which is a carbon frame from All Terrain Cycles (Trek Dealership) because Trek didn't have any in stock. All Terrain Cycles ordered the bike from Trek even though Trek didn't show any stock. All Terrain Cycles should have built the bike but instead, they sent it to me as Trek had packed it. I believe they did this because they knew it was a used bike that a Trek staff member had put through the system. Tires were used, tire sealant was yellow when it should be blue, sealant was leaking, rims were damaged, screws in the frame were damaged, and dog hair and mud were stuck to the frame.
All Tarrain Cycles past the buck and said this was all Trek's fault. They showed me proof (bike serial number matching the paperwork) that the bike was ordered from Trek and then sent it straight to me.
First, I dealt with Tam at Trek and then Colin the Customer Service Director.
Colin and Tam knew I was using this bike for bike packing. I also said I have Cancer and wanted to go on one last trip so getting this right was really important to me.
The bike is a small frame so you can't attach anything in the middle because it dips. That just left the front and the back of the bike to attach a handlebar rack and a pannier rack. Trek knew I was going to be attaching things to the frame. After Colin took the bike and replaced parts (which I was grateful for) within a week, the frame cracked.
I contacted Colin and asked him where I stood with this. He asked me what pannier rack I had attached to the bike frame and then he said he would take the bike to inspect it. I spoke to Trek US on live chat who said nothing is allowed to be attached to the frame so I don't know why Trek in the UK want to waste time inspecting it when the rack invalidates the lifetime frame warranty. This also means my bike insurance is not valid so I can't use this bike for bike packing. Colin then said that I had to get any parts authorized by Trek if I wanted to attach anything to one of their carbon frames.
Colin/Trek should have told me this when they first knew what bike I had. I could have exchanged the bike before it got damaged. They ignored me when I pointed this out.
Trek also should make this EXTREMELY clear (on their website, in person and in writing) to anyone buying a carbon frame ESPECIALLY for INSURANCE PURPOSES. They don't have it written anywhere and they don't care that they don't. When I told them this, Colin sent a load of bogus links that didn't work and he ignored liability. Nothing was said about anything they should or shouldn't have done and no apologies were given. I told Colin how nasty I thought he was for not saying anything. He ignored what I said. I kept asking him to explain why staff members were selling their bikes through the company. He didn't respond to explain.
Colin then made out that he was going to swap the carbon frame I had for an aluminium frame, and then swap over all the parts on the bike for free. He said this was his 'offer' to resolve the issues. When I believed it was for free, I was relieved and said thank you. Colin then made out that he wasn't going to do this for free and that I had to pay him. I told Colin how awful he is and I said it seems you like to kick people when they are down. He never replied to help me any further or to reassure me that this wasn't the case.
I have since gone to a different company that sells Trek bikes as well as other brands which is considered as a Trek Dealership. They said that even if the parts from a Procaliber 9.5 were swapped over to an aluminium frame, I would still have difficulty with the bike because the gear set-up is for climbing mountains and it's not ideal for what I need. They said they would help me find a more suitable bike. In between phone calls with them, they gave me the impression that they had spoken to Trek about me. They then cancelled my new order as they were told they have a right to cancel what orders they like. They then told me to go elsewhere for help. I'm still in shock.
I can't believe it, I've wasted 11 weeks of my life and I'm worse off than when I started. I've spent about £1000 on bike packing add-ons and I can't use any of it, let alone go on the trip I had planned. All the stuff including the damaged bike is just sitting there.

Trek Merlin 7

Trek Store such a disappointment!
In their Store the prominent statement is: 'We repair every bike in 24 hours' I am deeply dissatisfied with the service provided for my Rail 9.8 at the Trek Store in Verona. After bringing it in on a Saturday at 15:00, I was disappointed to discover that on Tuesday at 13:30 it was still not ready. I consider it essential to be treated with the utmost professionalism and efficiency in line with what was promised. In addition, the Workshop is really expensive , for example other retailers have an average price of 15€ for washing the bike, and you can often get it for free, in the Trek Store you can get it for 24,90€ or they insist a lot on selling Packages.
