Very informative guides and good accomodations, right balance of authentic local life and relaxation
This review is in the context of a 1 week private tour of Egypt (Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Red Sea for a day of R&R). This was my first time in Egypt; although I'm a seasoned independent traveller myself and have been to 30+ countries previously.
Overall, I enjoyed the tour a lot. I wanted something where I didn't have to deal too much with logistics in an unfamiliar country, yet where I can get a authentic cultural experience (after all I'm not going to Disney World)
* The tour guides/drivers/reps themselves were all very helpful in telling me the high level context as well as trivia, without overwhelming me with details I can find online, and I give them my highest recommendation.
* Hotel choices were great, no issues (except the location of El Gouna, see below)
* I told the tour guides I was more interested in local life, and they (especially Lamey in Aswan/Luxor) were happy to take me to local cafes off the beaten tourist track and just people watch. I find this really makes travels more meaningful and I would suggest this angle be emphasized more.
* Ample time for relaxation in hotels in the afternoon, especially considering this was in summer so being outside is like being in a sauna!
Some minor things for improvement that if were I to repeat this again, I would tweak:
* El Gouna (Red Sea) was quite isolated -- the Sheraton itself was decent, but the location is basically just a bubble of resorts. If I did this again, I would prefer to stay in Hurghada proper so I could explore on foot and have easy access to a greater choice of activities like diving, etc.
* Food quality was great, but quantity was more than anyone could probably eat (especially at dinner time when you've had two big meals already). I know being overly generous and abundant with food is part of Egyptian/Arab hospitality, but still I hated seeing all that food go to waste. Perhaps there can be an option to make (at least dinners) optional/pay as you go, since all the hotels have breakfast buffets and after lunch, I was quite stuffed.
* Some of the attractions like the Karnak Sound and Light Show and going inside the Great Pyramids didn't live up to the hype for me. Not the fault of Travelous, of course, but I would make those optional instead.
Again, these are just minor nits, and overall I really enjoyed the trip.

AWESOME TRIP TO EGYPT
I accompanied a very dear friend , on an adventuresome voyage to multiple locations in Egypt. We visited Cairo, Aswan, Abu Simbel, Luxor,Sharm El Sheik. Trip planned with Travelous , after phone interview with travel agent Chris Bazos, who indeed planned every detail of our travel , including air fare, hotels, airport meeting/ rep. and transport, drivers, tour guides. Chris Bazos provided most excellent people , in every location , to enhance our experiences in each location we visited. The teams provided, anticipated every need, gracious, kind, and outstanding in customer service, and sincerely made every effort that we should enjoy our visit. The Cairo team was indeed superior, included Egyptologist. The entourage provided made our trip exceptional in every way!! The unexpected of the trip - at times the assigned airport rep.( not in Cairo), would recruit another driver ( not daily driver) , other airport rep., extra person for the excursion etc.. These type of changes made it difficult to know who to pay when - and to anticipate funds needed.. when extra persons added unexpectedly.

Johanna set up a great itinerary for…
Johanna set up a great itinerary for our 3 week trip to the UK. She listened to our desires and wants and made other suggestions based on what she learned about us. She was also available when we had questions from the UK and quickly assisted us with little issues.

Amazing! Egypt April 2019
I just returned from a last minute trip to Egypt. It was mind blowing.
Travelous orchestrated the trip of a life time, a true VIP experience and they were particularly kind to help me on very late notice and tailor the experience to my interests as a 30-something solo female traveler.
Especially impressed with the hand picked, highly educated Professor/Egyptologist guides who kept me engrossed in the history and laughing as fast friends. Also loved the app that had every detail I needed on-demand.
Looking forward to working with them again!
