DO NOT PURCHASE THIS INSURANCE FROM A CRUISE COMPANY!
Same else has reported on here. They refuse to give refund for unused insurance for COVID19 mass-cancelled cruise on Royal Caribbean. We will get a refund/future cruise credit for the cruise, but we are out our $248 for trip insurance that we were never be able to use. DO NOT LET YOUR CRUISE COMPANY AUTOMATICALLY PURCHASE THIS FOR YOU.

My husband and purchased this…
My husband and purchased this insurance for a cruise. My father terminal cancer and days before dying I cancelled alone with the Corona virus issues popping up. I sent in all information from my dads doctors and all other information they ask for. This was last month. I get a email from them as well last night saying they are only refunding 250.00 of our 500.00 back. I thought this was the purpose of buying insurance for protection for these things. On top of that, the same day that I was on my way to the funeral to bury my father, I got a call that someone had murdered my son. Now who wants to go on a cruise after all of that. And they don't wont to give you all your money back. I think we all should get together and fight this AON scam. This is taking the advantage of people. Put them out of business so they can stop steal from other people. Because that is exactly what they are doing. They got what you paid for your insurance puls the money you are entitled back. Total RIP off.

DO NOT go with this insurance company…
DO NOT go with this insurance company they are a complete scam. They do not process claims and after weeks of emails they finally reply only if you harass them. They have now closed my claim because they want information that is impossible to provide. I am disgusted with this company and I’ll be complaint to Expedia and the insurance ombudsman.

Beware AON Travel Insurance Aka Nationwide Mutual Insurance Passenger Protection
Do not purchase travel insurance from AON! They will not reimburse your travel expenses for a COVID-19 related cancellation!
We purchased AON travel insurance through Hopper to cover our trip to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam. On March 16th United airlines canceled our flight from New York to Paris due to the French government announcing a confinement order that went into effect March 17th due to COVID 19.
All non-essential businesses were ordered to close. Moreover, the US government would later impose travel restrictions to and from Europe making it difficult for US citizens to return to the states from abroad.
We booked our trip through Hopper. The hopper App directed us to contact the hotels abroad for a credit or for a refund to be issued. We painstakingly did so. We booked hotels in France, Brussels and Amsterdam. All hotels save one in Reims said that we needed to file an insurance claim.
We tried contacting a representative from Hopper but they never replied. Days later we received an email from Hopper directing us to file an insurance claim.
We filed a claim through AON to cover our costs. AON asked we provide proof so we uploaded confirmation receipts of our flight and hotels booked through Hopper. After two weeks we received a determination via email.
An underwriter named Christopher Spencer who represents Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company and Affiliated Companies, Columbus, Ohio, turned down our claim. Below is an excerpt of AON's determination letter:

AON was due to cover our Trip Cancellation: of up to $5,000, or a Trip interruption
which covers costs up to $5,000. They refused to reimburse us for a trip cancellation which was caused through no fault of our own. What kind of travel insurance company refuses to reimburse the customer when a cancellation is due to circumstances beyond the customer's control? We had a trip cancellation. AON should have been fair to pay for our lost travel expenses.

PASSENGER PROTECTION INSURANCE POLICY.
**There is NO language SPECIFIED in the LIMITATIONS and EXCLUSIONS section of the POLICY that states that a VIRUS is EXCLUDED FROM COVERAGE.**
Since AON aka NATIONWIDE MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY PASSENGER PROTECTION INSURANCE POLICY is unwilling to honor our basic claim. We are submitting an appeal to New York State Department of Financial
Services, Consumer Assistance Unit, Financial Frauds and Consumer Protection Division, New York State
Department of Financial Services and the Better Business Bureau.

NEVER USE THEM!!!!
Purchased travel insurance for our cruise on RCCL through vacationoutlet, scheduled to depart 5/10/20. We purchased this on the very last day we could (2/10/20). We ONLY purchased because we weren’t sure what would happen with the virus. Obviously the cruise was cancelled. We called vacationoutlet to get a refund of our travel insurance ($500) since we weren’t able to use any portion of it. They won’t give us our money back. They said they would credit it toward a future trip. I don’t believe this bc I think company will go bankrupt in all of this. I’m part of a FB cruise group; most of the members are reporting that they are getting money back from other travel insurance companies. NEVER use this company. They stole our money (took money for a service that couldn’t be utilized). NEVER use them! Companies have to remain honorable, especially in the face of crisis

If I could give a zero
If I could give a zero, I would. We purchases trip insurance my husbands conference and a family trip. As we always do since we had kids. Then the government told people not to travel in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. AND the conference was cancelled so we cancelled our travel plans.
AON says since nobody was too sick to travel, they will not reimbursed. That was the point, to keep people from getting sick. The airlines are providing credits! AON just takes your money and runs.
I don't recommend "travel insurance", especially from AON Affinity.
