I have been a loyal Traeger customer…
Update: July 30, 206. Received the new controller and it did the same thing as the first, wouldn't ignite. Called support and finally someone who had an answer. Traeger recently changed the startup procedure for the Woodridge Pro without updating the manual or setup videos so you no longer press the side of the ignite button (the other side is the shutdown portion - all part of the same touchscreen button). Now you touch the entire button which also includes the shutdown process. It's not intuitive at all and all materials point to the older start up process. It's possible the original controller was never defective. The replacement works well, but clearer documentation would have saved both me and Traeger considerable time. Sharing all this in case someone else runs across this issue. Change to 2 stars because I really do love the Traeger smoker, but their materials need to be updated and if you don't get the right support person you may still have issues. Update: July 27, 2026. I called back today to ensure the replacement was being sent since the order number I was given would not show in Traeger's track your order. The person I talked to was able to confirm it was being processed and move the shipment to two days priority. I did find out that the "customer compensation" item that the service rep processed for me the day before was in fact actually Traeger stickers. Seriously? You're planning to send me stickers and I have a very expensive grill that won't start. I asked the rep today to cancel that part of the order. I will update again after I get the part. Original Review, July 26, 2026. I have been a loyal Traeger customer for years, and this is my third Traeger grill. Each time I've upgraded to a higher-end model because I've had good experiences with the brand in the past. Unfortunately, my experience with the new Woodridge Pro has been extremely disappointing. After spending considerable time carefully assembling the grill exactly according to the instructions, I attempted the required initial seasoning process. The grill turned on and the digital display worked but it would not engage to ignite, it kept turning itself off. I contacted Traeger Support, and the representative spent time troubleshooting the issue with me over a live video call. The representative shared that the controller had failed and needed to be replaced. During the conversation, I was told that Traeger has an updated version of the controller that was engineered to prevent this type of failure in the future. I was also assured 100% that replacing the controller would resolve the problem. The replacement controller is expected to take about a week to arrive because overnight shipping is not offered by Traeger. As a customer, this is frustrating. A brand-new premium pellet grill should not require a replacement control board. It makes me wonder what else might fail. It also makes me wonder why grills are still being shipped to dealers with a controller that apparently required a redesign. I sincerely hope the replacement controller solves the problem because I have always enjoyed owning Traeger grills. However, if it does not, this Woodridge Pro will be going back. I will update this review once the replacement controller arrives and I have the opportunity to determine whether it resolves the issue. It’s extremely disappointing that they would not overnight ship the replacement part.
