Trace Your PastReviews of trace.com

Met Trace reps at genealogy conference and followed up by hiring them to verify or refute a family legend. They were very clear in what they needed from me, what it would cost and how long it would take. All steps in the process were visible to me through their online app. They also finished the project well before we both thought they would, given the COVID-19 pandemic. Legend was that my 2X great grandfather was in prison in Baden (Germany), escaped to America but could not go back for his inheritance since he had not received permission to emigrate. Big brick wall and I don't speak/read German. Trace found the records of him being in prison in 1849 (he arrive in the US in May 1850). Also, they found a submission in 1863 by his father to grant him an after-the-fact emigration permit. They also let me know they did not find any police records concerning him. I doubt whether I would have known where to go for any of these documents or looked in the right time frame for the emigration permit. They also included general historical context about exactly why he would have been in prison at the time he was (liberal uprisings). In addition, Trace found my 2X great grandfather's baptism record, three sisters I didn't know about, his parents' marriage and baptismal records, so I've now got two further generations and three new surnames. Lastly, they identified exactly which town in Baden he came from. The only name I had was Sulzbach and there are 14 Sulzbachs (Salt Town) among Germany, France and Switzerland. Like being told Springfield, USA with no idea which state. When we can finally travel again, I know exactly where to go in Germany to walk in the same streets as my family. Priceless. Am already planning next year's Trace project - husband is only allowing me one a year! I definitely recommend Trace for anyone wanting to hire professional genealogists.

I just received my final report from Trace and all I can say is WOW, just WOW!! I was super impressed with the detailed information I received and then on top of it, I got all the documentation and documents that my researcher found. It was so fun learning about my relative that I just wasn’t able to find information on. This was a great experience and I am already planning my next project!

After struggling for 40 years to find information on my mom and her family in Austria I was amazed at the amount of information I received in just three months. Besides the very detailed summary, we received ALL of the supporting documents discovered during the search. The Trace staff, especially my rep - Matt Bistrap, were all very professional and were very accomidating to my needs and worries. I very much appreciated the updates sent by the system each time there was a change to the search status. We were so happy with the results that we are signing on for a second set of searches.

Trace is awesome. Tried ancestry.com first and they were not helpful, plus, I wasn't interested in dna testing. Trace representatives courteous, professional, and helpful. Their geneologists found information on my grandparents that noone else did. Thanks TRACE

I received the genealogical results I was hoping for. This was in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, so I was pleasantly surprised by the speed. The results were from records that are not available on Ancestry.com.

I've used Trace for two projects so far. Getting started with a third project that I'll only trust with Trace. We are in the process of getting our dual citizenship and trace has helped us retrieve documents & locate the birth place of a Great, Great grandfather in Italy. They have professional staff and their customer service is first rate. All thru the project they keep me up to date. I highly recommend Trace to satisfy any genealogy need.
