We enrolled my son in the Middle School Advanced Essay program. Our goal was to strengthen his understanding of the structure of essays. However, we found that his content was a bit immature and his mechanics needed a lot more review. The reason I'm rating this four stars instead of five is only because I would have liked to have had a prompt, before choosing the program, that helped me reflect on his level before signing up. Time4Writing does offer a grace period for a change in program, however, it took us more time to realize that the program might not be the perfect fit. I also want to make a final point in stating that once we realized our situation and communicated with his teacher, she was very understanding, supportive and accommodating. We really felt she offered options, suggestions, and solutions. My son was able to finish the program with a small extension and definitely showed improvement. Thank you!

It has very less assignments and exercises to work upon to learn a concept. My child could finish a unit very quickly with above 80 percent in two units. It took him just three days to finish two unit concepts. And when I asked him again about what a particular concept is after the fourth day, he was clueless. All I want to say is that to reinforce and make a child learn the concept, multiple exercises and practice is needed. I am not at all satisfied and will talk to them.

Hi Avantika, Thank you for the feedback. Most families like the short duration and find that doing a smaller amounts of work at a time allows students to grasp concepts that will be used later in the course. Normally, we recommend doing one or two units a week, as doing too much may cause confusion about what students are learning.

I had not received feedback from his teacher in public school concerning my sons gaps in his education. Looking over his work, I wasn’t sure he understood basic writing/sentence structure. I signed him up for basic mechanics course so I could understand where his gaps were and how to correct them. This course was perfect. This was exactly what I was looking for. Based on his grades I can see exactly where he’s struggling, and help him understand the syntax/rules for writing. I asked my son how he liked the format (online, work at own pace, not a lot of human interaction) and he said he liked that he could work at his own pace, but he missed the human interaction. When I pointed out he could email his teacher, he said “I’m not even sure what question to ask.’ So I made a point to talk to him about his lessons, and if they made sense. We discussed his grades only from the standpoint of assessment/ understanding. Very happy with the course. I’m hoping after we take a few weeks to work on the few gap areas, he will try to do the writing course for enhancement to his 7th grade public school English course. Mrs. LaChance was great, and will most likely sign up for next course! Thank you again!!

My daughter likes it, I like it! It seems easy at the beginning of first two units, but it gets harder. Teacher are always on time and give constructive feedback on how the student can improve. It is a great little extra assignment or homework for those who likes writing, but if you want to depend solely on it just for learning writing and to learn a whole lot, it isn't. Overall it is great program.

At the beginning, the teacher was very attentive to details but toward the end -- there were some spelling and grammar mistake that the teacher did not catch. I am little disappointed.
Response from Time4WritingJul 17, 2019
Hi Dinh, We are sorry to hear that any of our teachers may not have addressed a student's grammar or spelling mistakes. I hope that you let our support team know of this so that they could address the issue. Our courses all have different objectives, and depending on the course, grammar and spelling may not have been the main objective. If your student was taking a paragraph or essay writing course (including narrative or informative writing), the focus would be on organization and flow. That being said, we do like to point out grammatical and mechanical errors, even in "writing" or "research" courses, so that the foundation skills are addressed as well.
