Previous Review Deleted - Bad Business Practices
My previous review of Timberline was removed, citing my use of their employee's name in my review. That's the name given to me by your employee, which should be fair game in a review. I applied for a debt consolidation loan during a tight financial bind. I was denied by all lenders. The next day I received a phone call from CENSORED Timberline employee, telling me that I had actually been 'approved for zero percent'. When I started asking details of the loan terms, I quickly realized that he/she/them/they were not offering a loan, but were trying to enroll me in a debt relief program. When I called he/she/them out for the deception, they became irate and said 'I guess you know more about my job than I do.' Their attitude did a 180 very quickly when they realized that I was not going to sign up for their program. For those of you unaware, a debt relief program is where you completely stop paying your debtors until they begin to offer you settlements, at which point the debt relief company negotiates a settlement on your behalf for a commission that's 25-30% of the total debt. My one star review is not because I have a problem with debt relief companies... what I have a problem with is when I apply for a debt consolidation loan and you call me telling me I've been 'approved for zero percent'. I'm shopping a consolidation loan because I want to pay my debtors off more quickly. Debt relief is the exact opposite, and your credit score will plummet before it improves. These are deceptive business practices and when I wrote my first negative review, no one from the company attempted to contact me and rectify... they just reported the review and had it removed because it contained their employee's name. See my other reviews if you're looking for a more reputable debt relief company.
