I contacted The Cleaning Authority to get a quote for a bi-weekly cleaning of my small home (under 1,000 sq. ft., excluding two bedrooms). When I originally spoke to a representative on the phone to schedule an estimate, I was quoted a price between $123 and $145. They sent an estimator to my home on Monday, October 5th. Because I was at an appointment, my husband met with her. Instead of the original estimate, she quoted us $200 for the first cleaning, $175 for the second, and $145 bi-weekly moving forward. Given the very small size of the areas to be cleaned (one living room, a kitchen, an office, and two small bathrooms), $145 is the absolute highest end of the range we were given, which felt unreasonable. My husband told the estimator I would call back to finalize everything. I called the office that very same Monday as soon as I returned home. The woman I spoke with promised someone would call me back before the end of the day. No one did. I called again the next day, and followed up yet again later in the week, even calling to ensure they weren’t accidentally trying to text a landline. It has now been a full week, and my multiple calls have been completely ignored. If a company cannot be trusted to return phone calls to secure a new customer, I certainly cannot trust them to reliably show up and clean my home. I am incredibly disappointed by this lack of basic professionalism and will be taking my business elsewhere.

I canceled the appointment before it ever started. I found out that the deposit is NON REFUNDABLE!!! This was not represented at the time of the booking. Buyer beware!

Beware the new owner. After three years of loyal, auto-drafted payments, his so-called audit claimed I owed over $600. I proved the charge was false, yet he refused any refund. I even offered to settle for one free cleaning; he coldly declined that too. This is not how you treat longtime customers. Greedy, dismissive, and unwilling to make things right. Take your business elsewhere before his creative math finds you.

Several areas that were supposed to be cleaned were either rushed or completely overlooked, and I had to spend additional time cleaning up after the visit myself. Communication was also frustrating. Getting clear answers about scheduling and service concerns was difficult, and I felt that my feedback was not taken seriously. For the price charged, I expected much better attention to detail and customer service. Based on my experience, I would not use this service again and cannot recommend it to others looking for reliable home cleaning.

Absolutely terrible experience – do NOT use this company I had a very bad experience with The Cleaning Authority in Houston and would never use them again. I called to get a quote for cleaning a 2,500 sq ft home. The person who gave the quote told me that homes this size generally take about 1.5 hours, and since this was a first-time cleaning they would roughly double the time, putting the estimate around $280. Based on that, I agreed to proceed. When the cleaning crew arrived, it was immediately clear they were moving extremely slowly on very basic cleaning tasks. They ended up taking nearly 5.5 hours to clean the house. I didn’t say anything at the time, assuming this was their business practice and that I’d still be charged the agreed-upon amount. To my surprise, I later received a bill for $480 for the first cleaning—nearly double what I was quoted. I spent days calling and arguing, and eventually they agreed to reduce the bill to $300, but the whole experience created a strong sense of distrust. Because of this, I decided to cancel future service. Here’s where it gets even worse: after I cancelled, they reversed the discount and re-charged the full amount, effectively punishing me for cancelling after their own billing fiasco. This felt extremely dishonest and unprofessional. Between the inaccurate quoting, excessive time taken, billing shock, and reversing an agreed adjustment, this company lost all credibility with me. Do NOT use this company. There are plenty of cleaning services in Houston that are honest and upfront—this is not one of them.
