5 months later, living in a construction zone in combs ranch
We moved into our Taylor Morrison home five months ago, expecting this to be an exciting new chapter for our family. Instead, we are heartbroken and exhausted by an experience that has turned our dream home into a construction zone. Before closing, we raised multiple issues and made it clear we did not want to close until they were resolved. We were told our contract would be canceled if we did not close, leaving us feeling pressured into proceeding with known, unresolved problems. We understand that minor warranty issues can happen with any new build, but this is far beyond that. Virtually every wall, door, baseboard, and ceiling throughout our home needs attention, with repainting and retexturing required in nearly every room. These issues have been addressed repeatedly, yet we are still dealing with extensive repairs five months later. Our belongings are piled in the middle of rooms, furniture is covered in plastic, most of our walls are bare, and we still have countless items in boxes. We cannot decorate, hang anything, or finish our children's rooms because our entire living space is affected by ongoing work. Our window coverings are down or unusable, leaving our home exposed to the public sidewalk behind our backyard. We requested accommodations during these repairs but were denied, leaving us to live around construction, dust, paint fumes, and other potential hazards. The hardest part is that I am pregnant, we have a toddler, and my husband is trying to work while we navigate this situation. We should be preparing a nursery for our baby arriving at the end of the year and making our children's rooms feel like home. Instead, our toddler cannot comfortably enjoy her own room, and we are living among workers, plastic-covered furniture, and unfinished spaces. It is heartbreaking to spend so much money building a home for your family and feel displaced in it. Five months later, we are still fighting to feel at home in the home we paid for. This experience has taken so much joy away from what should have been a special time in our family's lives. We simply want our home properly finished so we can unpack, prepare for our baby, and finally enjoy living in it.
