TaxSlayer doesn't hold your hand and…
TaxSlayer doesn't hold your hand and lead you through every step and every question you need to ask to prepare a tax return. It expects you to know a thing or two because you've seen a thing or two. I would not say it's the best first program for someone who just graduated last spring, is opening a new practice without training with an experienced preparer, and expects a program to teach him his job. (You can find plenty of programs to do that for you, but you'll pay at least three times as much.) But I can comfortably recommend this program to anyone who already knows what their return is supposed to say. I see it as not paying to be shown things I already know. In eleven years, the only thing I have found that you can't do with TaxSlayer is a corporate farm return, and even that can be accomplished with some cutting and pasting. Tech support is fast, knowledgeable, friendly, and WILL find the answer to your question. I have been a happy TaxSlayer customer for eleven years and have no plans to change.
