I feel four stars is fair and not too harsh. This is an unbiased non-brown noser review. Truth it is a pretty manipulative shady business with zero transparency. As an artist you’re basically the product that pays to take their order. Companies who use taxi are just doing them a favor. However you can improve your skills and learn some at the Road Rally, and have a good time. You can get places with Taxi if you want to grind constantly and work for every break. However it won’t come without the expense of not just money but your wellbeing. If you don’t think that screeners are toxic, don’t kid yourself. They won’t admit it. You can be exactly what they ask for and they’ll still find an excuse to return your submission. Most the good reviews are by Taxi pets or teachers pets. There’s easier ways to make money with music if you’re talented. Cause people will hire talent trust me. But the whole music business is shady and manipulative in general.

An honest review
Some of these reviews just boggle the mind. Taxi is a completely legitimate company, to say otherwise is foolish. I can only guess that it’s the reviewers expectations that are clouding their judgement. Film and TV sync is very competitive and you must get used to rejection as it never goes away, regardless of your level of success. Taxi basically offers it’s members two things. The first is listings from music libraries or music supervisors looking for music. You pay $5 per song to submit (if they didn’t charge a nominal fee members would overwhelm them with submissions). Do they reject a majority of the submissions? Yes. IMO probably too much, however that is them trying to protect their brand - they want these music libraries and music supervisors to keep using their services successfully. It’s completely above board and the success stories are real. The second thing they offer their members is a free ticket to their annual convention. I joined 15 years ago and
It took me 5 years to attend this event for the first time. I’ve been every year since. That’s me flying from Toronto to LA and spending 5 nights at the Westin LAX, so a commitment of time and money. The Taxi Rally conference brings together a group of like minded people who share information and inspire each other to be better. The networking opportunities are awesome. If don’t go at least once, then you’re wasting your membership fee. So if we’re rating things, I give them 5 stars for their conference and 3 stars for their listings.

The internet is toxic, reviews like these are why we can't have nice things. Here's some fact-based perspective.
Almost every naysayer opinion on the internet about Taxi is completely out of touch with reality, or based on an absolute lack of understanding on what the service actually does, and how the tv/film industry works.
Taxi is basically a dating service with the goal of connecting music composers with the people that actually place music into tv shows and films. The service is not for everyone, to get the most out of it you need to a) have some basic musical skill, b) be able to record a professional sounding track, and c) be able to accept feedback and adjust your creative output accordingly to meet client needs.
Taxi is not a place where you take your beloved musical creations and try to force fit them into a music editors hands. Music editors are looking for music that supports their scenes, they are not trying to promote you as an artist. Successful sync composers know how to deliver what their customers want, and save their own art and creative work for other uses.
If you are not good at following instructions, you really have no chance of having success in this industry (and probably most others as well). And, it doesn’t matter if you are an amazing musician with a great pedigree and tons of road experience. Being a performer is one thing, being a successful writer is another. I’ve got decades of education and performance experience with awards, blah blah blah. But I knew nothing about the tv sync business until joining Taxi. And I wasted my first two years with Taxi by submitting to as much as I could instead of focusing on my musical strengths. Did I whine about Taxi because my music wasn’t good enough? No. I learned, and got better. Several years later my music is currently heard on about 75 unique tv shows and has appeared in three films, including screen credits.
Taxi works if you put in the work and put your ego aside. The music industry is not for everyone, and it is certainly not fair. Success can come to people that actually stink musically, because success today is not always about talent. But there is no better service online today than Taxi to learn about the business. If you are skeptical, do what I did back in 2015: I made the mistake of reading internet reviews, and nothing has changed. Tons of people whining about it, with zero context or understanding. Back then I joined the free forums to see for myself. No obligation, it is truly free and has thousands of members. It is also the most positive forum I’ve been involved with, because members like me truly want our peers to be successful, and the veterans like to pay it forward. Do yourself a favor and check them out. See for yourself, get away from internet toxicity.
