I have a couple of seldom used Synchrony store cards. Harbor Freight being one. Which if used gets the balance paid immediately. I made an error and forgot to schedule a payment. I got notice of it being late, I paid immediately, and verified payment on Synchrony website. However they continued to send me past due notices in a very threatening tone. I consider this harassment and unethical. An inquiry revealed that Synchrony stands by that they follow all legal requirements and are doing business correctly. Judging by the countless negative reviews and my experience, Synchrony could care less about their customers. My decision I will never use a Synchrony card again or shop at any store that utilizes Synchrony cards. I wonder how many politicians the president of Synchrony pays off to stay in business.

This review is on SYNCHRONY BANK/ MASTER CARD company. I opened this credit card account on 4/21/2024, with an approved credit limit of $12,000.00. I charged over $9,000.00 to this card and paid it out within 2month and was never late. I then received a alert from Experian that my credit score have decreased 8 pts., due to Synchrony Bank decreasing my credit limit from $12,000.00 to 1, 024.00. This company hurt my credit score rating after I did business with them, never paid late and paid the account out in full early. I called and spoke with a customer service representative with Synchrony Bank Master Card on 10/16/2026, and was told that if I didn't use the card the account would be closed. Don't do business with SYNCHRONY Bank Master Card, if you pay your accts out in full and you value your credit score.

Poor Autopay System and Unacceptable Customer Service I am extremely disappointed with Synchrony Bank and its handling of my CareCredit account. When I initially tried to set up automatic monthly payments, their system repeatedly rejected my selected amount, claiming it exceeded my balance. Once the system finally allowed me to enroll, Synchrony withdrew my entire account balance instead of my intended monthly payment. I was later informed that their autopay system doesn’t take effect until the following billing cycle. This was never clearly communicated during enrollment, nor was I adequately warned that my full balance could be withdrawn. To make matters worse, Synchrony refuses to return my money electronically, despite withdrawing it directly from my bank account. Instead, they’re holding my funds and insisting on mailing a check, creating significant delays and financial hardship. This situation was caused by Synchrony’s inadequate payment system and poor communication, not by customer negligence. Customers should not suffer financially because of a bank’s flawed processes. Synchrony needs to take accountability, promptly return my money, and fix its autopay system.

I have perfect record, always pay on time, etc. Synchrony locked my PayPal Extras Mastercard and didn't tell me. When it was declined, I went online to find out I had to call them. They went through an ID verification but their (AI based?) method didn't work so they said they'd send a letter telling me how to verify my ID via SNAILMAIL!?!?? A week later I received the letter, send the verification, had to call them again, they didn't like the verification so had to do it again (another letter, snailmail reply, etc.) They wouldn't tell me anything without verifying my ID their way. The automated verification DOESN'T WORK!!! I spent over two hours on the phone, multiple calls, over 5 weeks before I reached a manager who was able to verify my ID and promised to overnight a new credit card (which hasn't arrived 5 days later. I'm going to cancel the account and switch to a card with decent support. Avoid Synchrony Bank!

I paid off my JCPenney card (Synchrony) in full on July 8 using the "full balance" option on their own website. Their phone system confirms the payment, and the account had already been closed. Two and a half months later, I got a statement for $10.08. It looks like a little interest wasn't included in the "full balance" amount, and Synchrony then added a ~$2 minimum interest charge every month on a closed, paid-off account. They never sent a statement until the balance hit $10.08, so I had no idea anything was owed. Before that, they lowered my limit and closed my JCPenney, CareCredit, and Petco cards, all paid on time, with no letter or email. I only found out by logging in. I've filed a written dispute and a CFPB complaint. Warning to anyone paying off a Synchrony card: "pay full balance" may not mean $0. Check the account again a month later.

I had an $850 credit limit with Synchrony/Amazon and a balance of about $800. I paid over $800 toward the account, and immediately afterward Synchrony reduced my credit limit to $250. This left my remaining balance at nearly 96% utilization, despite having just made a substantial payment. I continued paying the account and ultimately paid it off, only to have Synchrony close the account. My concern isn't that Synchrony chose not to extend me additional credit. It's that these actions themselves can negatively affect a consumer's credit utilization and credit profile. I've filed a complaint with the CFPB because I believe this practice deserves review and greater transparency.

Worst bank ever well lie to you. To make you get late payments. Take your money and not apply it to your bill. And when you ask them why it hasn't been applied, they'll tell you. Oh, you have to pay it in this day in the month for it to be applied. Never tell you that until you pay, just flat out. Thieves with horrible business practices. If you care about your credit and your finances stay far away from them.

THE PERSON ON THE PHONE DID NOT LISTEN TO MY CONCERNS THE CREDIT APPLICATION I FILLED OUT FOR MY TRANSMISSION TO BE REPAIRED WAS DIRECTLY SENT TO THE TRANSMISSION SHOP FOR 4800 DOLLARS AND THE CHARGE FOR REPAIRS WAS ONLY 3800 DOLLARS AND WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A INTREST FREE FOR 12 MONTHS AND THEY STILL CHARGED ME AND A 77 DOLLAR A MONTH SECURITY FEE UNBELIEVABLE THE PERSON WAS FORIEGN AND HARD TO COMMUNICATE WITH AND SO I PAID MY INTREREST FREE ACCOUNT WITH INTREST FEES ATTACHED AND SECURITY CHARGES OF 77 DOLLARS FOR 2 MONTHS RIP OFF ARTIST BAIT AND SWITCH!!!!!!!
