Terrible customer service. They shipped a broken product and will not respond to email. After calling they said they would send instructions for sending photos and have still not done so. I'm going to call my credit card company.

Their customer service is horrendous
Their customer service is horrendous. I tried to order an item online during a sale and the page would not load and kept timing out due to the website’s multiple redirects. I then ordered a different item, whose page I could actually get to. The next day I get an email titled “Your Order Has Changed” which means was cancelled. The body of the email says “One or more items from your order has been cancelled due to one of the following reasons:
1. We no longer have your item(s) in stock. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
2. You requested this cancellation.”
They do not provide a coupon code as an apology for their screw up and an encouragement to keep shopping with them, as many companies do, they just say whoops. Remember, I also ordered items during a sale, so I tried to reach out to customer service via email to see if there was anything they could do to match prices or provide a coupon code since there were multiple issues on their end. I unfortunately got Carolina as my customer service representative. She uses a copy and paste phrase of “we greatly value our business and deeply regret this inconvenience” which she used in both response emails she sent to me (I think she means they greatly value my business…). She told me “unfortunately, when we have items on sale, we have limited stock on these items, that is the reason we cancel your order” which did not address several of my questions or concerns and I told her it did not, so after reminding her to respond to me, as it had been more than the customary three business days since my email, she said “the website was working fine the date the sale was, regarding the inventory, this is something bigger that get updated every period of time, we are aware of the number of items we kept in the warehouse”. I then asked how she was able to tell that the website was working fine, what research did she do, did she reach out to her IT team to look at the website logs? I asked how an item would be listed as “in stock” even in my purchase confirmation if there were no issues on Sur la Table’s end. She did not respond to me and she did not send my email on to anyone else.
I also reached out to the company via the contact portion on their website. They did not respond.
Keep in mind, this company is owned by an investment company. They don’t care about you, they care about cash. Do not continue to support them with your money. That’s the only way they will be forced to make a change.

Don't waste your time or money
Don't waste your time or money. Sur La Table is a lousy company. I attended 3 cooking classes they provided. Never again. Two of the "chefs" were nice people. One was extremely obnoxious. He got visibly mad and emotionally upset because several students including myself were not holding the knife EXACTLY like he demonstrated. What a narcissist. It is a job for bottom feeders. The place is sloppy, filthy and unsanitary. They mix food together that all the students hands have been in and then they serve it to everyone. The cooking classes are BYOB and they allow drunkenness. The evening classes are often fully booked and the space is too small, cramped and congested which contributes to the sloppy filthiness. The meals are not consistently good. Some recipes are awful. The classes are rushed. The "chefs" typically arrive at the very last minute for scheduled class start time and unprepared or 10 to 15 minuets after the class start time. They yell at you to wait outside until they are "ready". The kitchen assistant team always seems irritated and behave like they would rather be anywhere else. The cooking classes are an overpriced frivolous novelty that most people attend only once or twice because the experience is not worth the time or money. The the students who make a habit of coming back are without exception those who are desperate for social interaction they can't seem to find anywhere else. I purchased a $300 gift certificate on line from Sur La Table for my wife. I selected the option on their website to email the certificate to her email address. Sur La Table's system immediately charged my credit card but has not emailed the certificate to my wife. I researched their question and answer page on their website hoping to find out why. There are several questions posted on their site from customers who were also concerned about why gift certificates they purchased to be emailed were not emailed timely. Sur La Table ignores or refuses to respond to the questions. Some questions pertaining to this have been posted for over a year and Sur La Table has not responded to a single one. Most of the products they sell are highly profitable overpriced cheaply made gimmicks designed and marketed to attract naïve customers. Some of the products they sell are good and can be bought elsewhere. Don't waste your time or money supporting such a lousy organization.

Cooking Class was Canceled with No Notice
We had a cooking class booked for this morning. We reconfirmed a few days prior. However, we arrived today to a closed store. As other class attendees started to arrive, someone decided to go to a back entrance and check for staff. Finally, after standing out in the rain for quite some time, a clerk came out to greet us, but only to tell us the class had been canceled. We never received a text, voicemail, or email.
A wasted morning during this busy holiday season. We have no indication of when we will receive a refund. We may have to dispute the charge on our credit card to get our money back.

Poor product and worse customer…
Poor product and worse customer service. I was gifted a Sur La Table brand skillet which is dishwasher safe. Unfortunately, a one inch strip came off when I took it out of the dishwasher. The skillet comes with a lifetime warranty. The amount of hassle I am going through is crazy. I sent a picture and asked what can be done. Without the order number, the person's name who gave you the gift ( name and last name ), my delivery address (if the item was delivered) or the giftor's address (if it was gifted by hand) nothing can me done. These requests block honoring any warranty. This is a Sur la Table product which is only sold through Sur la Table!

DISAPPOINTED!
Enrolled my granddaughter into a teen cooking class several months ago. Went to class (there were others) today to find that the class was canceled- no prior email explanation nor apology. The store clerk was completely unaware and didn’t know if there would be a replacement or refund. She would have to call to find out. What kind of outfit is this? There was a time when Sur La Table meant QUALITY and CUSTOMER SERVICE. Apparently not any more! Very disappointed!

lousy sur la table item
I bought a Sur La Table metal tray that has been chipping and I'm sure pieces of metal are getting into the food I might cook. The tray is not usable and bc I went back to the store after 60 days, they wouldn't make good on it. The quality of this item makes me never buy another Sur La Table product.

It's PayPal's fault. That's what Linda in customer service told me. I tried to have a gift sent to someone who does not live in my house. PayPal will only send to the address you used when you signed on to PayPal. Which is just one reason why I don't use PayPal. "I used credit, Linda; not PayPal, and it still did it." Her reply: "Well, our system is down now. That's probably why." "I tried yesterday, not today."
"Well, I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do while the system's down."
To her credit, Linda called back 15 minutes or so later, to tell me the system was up and she could take my order. I gave it to her, noting that my Honey extension found a 10% discount. "We don't discount this item," Linda told me. "Linda: I'm looking at your website. It shows an $18 discount." "Can you send me a screen shot?" While I was attempting to do so, Linda said that she tried Honey and it worked, so -- voila -- my discount. Had I not been so insistent, that would have been $18 down the drain. Then I asked the company to overnight the package to the gift's recipients for their anniversary the next day, a Saturday. Had I been able to order the item -- a chef's knife -- on Thursday, when I first tried, it would have arrived on Saturday, no problem. While, assumedly, the company could have shipped on a Friday, Linda told me they don't ship on the weekend, so the gift would arrive -- overnighted -- on Tuesday. They gave me the overnight shipping at their own expense, assuming that the value of my time wasted was $0. Noteworthy: Had I not asked for compensatory, complimentary overnight shipping, and been somewhat strident about it, it would not have happened.
Bottom line: Waaaaaay too much effort and frustration dealing with these folks who, to me, seem to be perfectly content with the lousy experiences they foist upon their soon-to-be former customers.
Bye bye.
