Thank you for the kind words. Supporting DIYers is what we built this company around, and following through until the problem is actually solved is part of that. Enjoy your Alarm.com system, and reach out whenever you need us.

Was worried about the alert I got and got a really quick response upon email sent!
Response from SuretyOct 13, 2026
Thanks for letting us know. An unexpected alert is unsettling, so getting you a straight answer fast matters to us. Never hesitate to email when something on your Alarm.com system looks off, even if it turns out to be nothing.

The panel swap articles that I initially found dealt with setting up a new panel where none was in place before, or migrating from an older working panel to a newer panel, or migrating with multiple security sensors in the mix. My situation was more simple - I was migrating from a dead IQ2+ panel to a new IQ4 panel with nothing but home automation via Z-Wave and WiFi devices. With that in mind, the panel swap went easier than I had anticipated. There are no system backups to rely on, so each of the Z-Wave devices had to be excluded (disassociated) from the old panel, then added to the new panel. The WiFi devices, including two MyQ garage door openers and a Skybell doorbell, migrated over all on their own, since they are account-based rather than panel-based. As a last step, I completed the automation schedules, updated the panel firmware, ran system tests, and it was done. Surety Support, (Jason and Tyler specifically), were right there to help if I needed it.

Thank you for writing this up in such detail. A dead panel with Z-Wave automation and no sensors is a scenario our articles do not cover head on, and your walkthrough of what actually had to happen will help the next person in the same spot. You also nailed the part that trips people up most: account-based devices like MyQ and Skybell come along on their own, while Z-Wave has to be excluded from the old panel before it will join the new one. Jason and Tyler will be glad to hear they were useful. Enjoy the IQ4, and reach out anytime.

Great customer service, reliable alarm monitoring at a fair price.

Thanks for the review. Customer service, reliable monitoring, and a fair price are what we aim for. Alarm.com is part of how we keep the system running cleanly. Glad it worked out for you.

I’ve been using Surety Home for several years and couldn’t be more pleased with my experience. They are responsive and helpful and far more knowledgeable about alarm systems than the generic customer service I received from another alarm services provider.

Thank you for sticking with us for several years, and for the kind words. We work hard to know Alarm.com and alarm systems inside and out so we can give you real answers when you need them. We are here whenever you need us.

Thank you for the review. Helping DIY customers get their systems installed and programmed correctly is the part of the job our team enjoys most, so it means a lot to hear it landed. Our support folks know Alarm.com inside and out, and they are always happy to walk through the details with you. Reach out any time you need a hand.

Not only is Surety saving us a substantial amount of money for Alarm Monitoring, but they are very responsive when you have a problem or question. We highly recommend them if you want good service, along with a good price.

Thank you for the recommendation. Holding rates down without thinning out the technician team is the balance we work hardest to maintain, so it is good to hear both halves landed for you. If you ever want to get more out of the system, post on the forum or send a PM and our team will lay out the Alarm.com features already included with your plan, whether that is automation rules, custom notifications, or adding a device. Glad to have you with us.

I would like to have been able to call and speak directly to a person instead of back and forth email. The problem I was experiencing may have been able to be fixed in much less time.
Response from SuretySep 2, 2026
We appreciate you sharing this. Online support is a deliberate choice at Surety, and it comes from years of watching how both models actually perform. Handling requests in writing means the person answering you is an experienced technician, with time to pull up your account, look at your panel and Alarm.com configuration, and verify the answer before sending it. Live phone queues push companies the other direction, toward large teams of lower cost agents working from scripts, because someone has to be available the moment the line rings. Some problems take a few passes to pin down in any format, but the tradeoff we chose is that you are working with someone who knows the equipment rather than someone reading from a script. We hope your system is running well now.
