When a cyst the size of a grapefruit on an ovary burst and causes sepsis infection or hemorrhage because your insurance keeps denying surgery you will be sued!!! If it were one of you I wonder what you would think????!!!!!! UHC Surest- Worst insurance company!!!!!

Surest is by far the worst insurance company to work with. I am provider for someone with Surest Insurance and was on the phone for overn3 hours trying to get tech support for submitting claims on-line. Optum was a breeze and I was able to get on-line with them in less than 15 minutes and submitted my claim. With Surest I was given 10 different phone numbers and spoke to 10 people all of whom could not help me. I have called the various numbers on line for Alison Richards, CEO and they are non-working numbers. I left an email message for Surest support and have heard nothing back. United healthcare is known for its' aggressive tactics to not pay providers but even this is beyond my comprehension.

Terrible! One day you go the dr for a sick visit and it's 30, the next time it's 120.00! You can't pick what provider you see for sick visits. Horrible way of billing for services. I went on the app to find an mri for my son that was 200.00. I even called to verify the same day that it would be 200.00 with my plan and I was assured it was correct. I have the screenshot from the app showing it was 200! One month later I get a bill for double the fee (400.00) I was told. I asked them why when I called I was told 200.00 if it was indeed 400.00. Also asked them when they changed the prices on the app for mri's..no answer. No record of the call even after giving them the exact day and time of my call. Oh and surprise surprise...I went back on the app today and the price now says 400.00. Can't wait to get rid of this insurance..scam

What a POS company- this company is a UHC company-which I was employed by, so was my primary insurance during that time of this claim. I also had a secondary insurance- which got billed for a sleep study in October of 2025. I just heard (4/14/2026) from my secondary that they had paid the full claim as Surest wasn’t billed for some reason. So they have now took back the payment as the primary insurance was not billed. So I contacted Surest - which would not provide a copy of the card (no longer employed with UHC) and they are denying the claim as it was not processed within 90 days. Ummm- I have worked in insurance for 18 years- if you were covered at the time of the claim, and was something covered by the policy, it is paid. Apparently, all the time I stuck up for UHC - I was WRONG- they suck!

I am a licensed Health Insurance Agent in the state of NY and I when I call to ask a question on billing, I am given 3 different explanations, 2 of which are not even legal billing practices in the state. ie - 'pricing' is based on the doctor, and location. So you could see the same doctor in 2 different locations and have 2 different copays. Really??? You are invited to look this up ahead of time, to 'avoid' unexpected bills... but the rates listed are not what you are charged. And no one at Surest really understands if there is such as thing as in network or out - or how we would find out those bills ahead of time. Each time I call I am on hold for 30 min. No joke. While they get a supervisor to answer a billing question. About billing. It's ridiculous. Another problam, many times you go to an appointment at a large clinic and get a different doctor, so how does that pricing work? or if they need to run tests - apparently you have to hop on the app with the codes before you get the tests to see what the pricing is in that clinic. Really? And if its cheaper down the road are we supposed to hop on down and go somewhere else? Specific issue - this tells it all: Surest website telling me $80 for the doctor. Ok, my bill says Surest made them knock the bill from $300 to $105 (they call this an adjustment), they pay $5 and I am on the hook for $100??? Not even the $80 on the website. Surest is sure making money, but we are going broke with no real transparency. So sad that this is who FEDEX trusts with their employee health plans.

The worst insurance I have ever had. You check their website and you that a specific doctor will cost $40. You think to yourself “ok, not that expensive”, but you end up paying much much more. Stay away from Surest.

Everything is out of network. Only obscure, cheap and inefficient doctors and facilities are in network, and the copay for decent primary care? 75+. I regret ever even thinking of joining this atrocity of an insurance product. Should have thought better than to think a United Health”care” product would be good. Avoid like the plague. Because if you catch it while under this awful system, you’ll pay out the rear for it.

I've been waiting for claims that have been sent twice to Surest from Sutter Health to even being acknowledged that they have received them. Now that I am not a member I feel like the customer service managers are not figuring out where the claims are even at. My phone calls have been going on for 2 months now. Another claim from Sutter health seems to have been lost in Surest's Export port, whatever that means. Surest UHC was my companies group health plan so that's why I had them. Now I'm getting no where with my claims and it's very very stressful.
