I’ve been drinking 3-5 drinks a day for a few years and wanted to reduce my alcohol intake because I was worried about my health. Cutback Coach has helped me plan the amount of drinks I have each week and taught me to incorporate dry days into the week. After a month I cut my weekly drink total in half. The daily text messages from Cutback Coach help me keep to the schedule I create at the start of each week. They also help create awareness as to how much I’m drinking and encourage me to pause and consider whether I need another drink. But there is no shaming if I decide to! Cutback Coach is a terrific way to cut down on drinking if that’s your goal.

Cutback coach has been a really useful tool for me to monitor my alcohol consumption and obtain support for my efforts to cut back. The text-based interface is easy and intuitive so it makes it simple to keep (and keep up) with logging. Goals are set for the week on Sunday with ability to modify them any time through the Cutback Coach website. I appreciate the encouraging reminders and congratulations (customized to my motivations for cutting back!) when I hit goals. Although I haven’t used it, chat with a human “coach” is available by text on demand which could be useful if having a bad day or staying motivated to hit your goals. Cutback Coach’s biggest strength is its simplicity although it would be nice to have an app interface to set goals and view long term progress. It is also definitely not a substitute for a medical alcohol abuse program but is a helpful complement to therapy/medication or may be a great tool for anyone just looking to cut back a bit. Highly recommended!

During lockdown, I drank too much for all the wrong reasons (stress, boredom). I had never had a particularly great relationship with alcohol and wanted to reset. After giving up wine for lent, I used this app to introduce alcohol back in, but in a more moderate, thoughtful way. The planning and daily text really keep me on track and I now only drink a couple of days a week and enjoy it more.

I learned about Cutback Coach via a very timely Instagram ad Since Covid, I’ve found myself drinking 2-3 glasses of wine every night, although cost was a small factor, empty calories was my biggest concern, getting an unattractive belly on an otherwise slim body Cutback Coach makes it very easy to be accountable for my intake, I set my goals weekly, I get a reminder text for that day’s goal & that has really helped me track my intake Cutback Coach came into my life at a critical time, I see myself continuing to use it to help keep me accountable & on track to cut my alcohol intake
