IMC: Building the Brand - Solution that needs some tweaking but on the right track
After some frustration in finding who to contact to resolve the issue mentioned, I had a very meaningful conversation with the Customer Support Lead, Lisa. We discussed a matter of issues that Stukent is working to address and have full confidence that she was both receptive and making a sincere attempts to resolve those issues. I am updating my rating and providing this blurb with the original review. I plan on following up via email after my semester ends, will provide a more robust update, and will update my original review to reflect this current contact at that time. ------------------------------------------------------------ Integrated Marketing Communications: Building the Brand is a horrible solution for your classroom. There is a disconnect between the quizzes and material presented. It is not well communicated, and, therefore, does a poor job of teaching the material. I have literally pored over the text, taken notes, attempted to parse what was being asked and am left utterly confused. Furthermore, the quizzes fail to provide any feedback to the user, so whatever Stukent thought you were supposed to know from their material is still lost on you. I will try to provide concise 3-point list below to summarize my experience thus far: 1. The quiz questions seem to attempt to differentiate themselves from the text, this differentiation then devolves into a game of telephone and semantics that I, the student, end up having to pay for. Some questions have wording that can easily be misconstrued by anyone or aren't specific enough to distinguish a precise meaning from. 2. This results in a failure to make clear the primary takeaways of a text or section of material, which means the job of the product is ultimately a failure. The ultimate goal of courseware is to teach students. You can provide summaries and learning objectives with the text as much as you'd like but without providing clear quiz material, the student is left confused and frustrated at the end of each chapter. 3. I called customer support earlier, addressed a specific issue regarding this complaint by reading the quiz question and section text side by side. We went over what said and asked several times in our conversation and we agreed, there are several ways to understand the question, each leading to a different response. Almost as soon as we examined my complaint, the agent on the phone sided with me on the issue. The presentation of the quiz material does not communicate clearly the material presented within the textbook and this is a problem if Stukent wishes to be a provider of educational material. Edit: this isn't about every question but there are some (enough to be frustrating and a massive discouragement) quiz questions that need major reconsideration ASAP.
