Hi Kathryn, we're really sorry you're feeling this way, and we can hear how upsetting this has been. We want you to know that this decision was not personal and had nothing to do with who you are. Sometimes we close accounts to protect customers when we see signs that someone may be targeted by a scam, even when they've done nothing wrong themselves. You can learn more about how to spot common scams here: https://strike.me/faq/how-do-i-identify-a-scam/

Pro Platform Review: Canary down the mineshaft; Strike bans user for self custody
Jack Mallers spends countless podcast hours preaching financial empowerment, freedom money, and the importance of taking control of your own wealth. Yet the moment you attempt to practice actual financial sovereignty on Strike, his platform shuts you down.
I opened an account, completed standard onboarding deposits, and allowed the clearing period to elapse. I then routed an inbound bank wire to evaluate their rails for long-term accumulation. Strike immediately held the wire deposit and triggered a questionnaire requiring users to complete an in-app verification card to proceed.
I answered the questions transparently: confirming an intent to withdraw to a personal cold storage hardware wallet under sole ownership.
The promised human review never occurred. Within milliseconds of submitting the form, an automated algorithm permanently terminated the account citing generic risk models. No compliance officer evaluated the answers, no step-up verification was offered, and no human discretion was applied.
Next comes the extended lockup window. While the rejected wire bounces back via Fedwire, remaining settled platform balances are placed on extended multi-week administrative holds unless users navigate bureaucratic bank procedures to prove a negative. They terminate accounts without cause, lock cleared capital for extended periods under the pretext of scam prevention, and direct users to regulatory complaint forms.
This demonstrates the operational counterparty risk inherent to custodial fintech ledgers. Platforms running off-chain ledgers rely on parked capital to capture float, spread, and yield. When users take delivery of their Bitcoin into sovereign self-custody, automated heuristics treat self-custody intent as an anomaly. Look to established institutional execution rails like Kraken Pro instead: no interrogation questionnaires, no automated heuristic panic, and no hostage mechanics.

Hi there, we understand your frustration and appreciate the detailed feedback. To be clear, self-custody is something we fully support, and withdrawing Bitcoin to your own wallet is never, on its own, a reason for an account to be closed. Sometimes we close accounts to protect customers when we see signs that they may be targeted by a scam, even when they've done nothing wrong themselves. Strike does not keep customer funds when an account is closed, and your funds have been returned. You can learn more about common scams here: https://strike.me/faq/how-do-i-identify-a-scam/

Response from STRIKEOct 6, 2026
Hi Jacob, we hear you, and we're sorry that your first experience with Strike has been this stressful. Waiting on your money without a clear timeline is frustrating, and we understand why being sent back to email feels like no help at all. We'd like to look into this ourselves, but we haven't been able to find an account matching your details in our system. We've sent you a request through Trustpilot for the information we need to locate your account. Once we have it, our team will review your case and follow up with you directly about your refund.

Strike wallet fraud response
I have reported the fraud I suffered from strike wallet. Their response was to claim it wasn’t them. How is an individual supposed to know the real company from their fraudulent one? Just claiming it isn’t them is a cop out. And completely discrasefull . Customers should be able to have trust in companies they do business with and to that end they should put forth every effort to get to the bottom of any and all problems that destroy their reputation. Instead they burry their heads in the sand and allow their customers to get frauded in their name. Or is it really their own company and just don’t want to clean up their mess?
Response from STRIKEOct 6, 2026
Hi Joe, we're very sorry you were defrauded. Losing money that way is awful, and you're right that it's not always easy to tell a real company from one using a similar name. We want to be clear and helpful here rather than just point elsewhere: the service you used isn't connected to Strike, and we have no access to its accounts or funds. The real Strike app is available only through the official Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and our only website is strike.me. If you have the website address, app name or contact details the scammers used, please share them with [email protected] so we can report the impersonation and help protect others. We'd also strongly encourage reporting the fraud to your local police and your bank as soon as possible.

My strike got close over 2 month ago
My strike got close over 2 month ago, they said they were trying to protect me and said i have to wait 60 days for an investigation conclusion to get refundedz. But i wanted to fast track it I should file a dispute with my ankle and send them the proof if the bank reject the dispute reversal in a sucure link. I did all that and nothing was done. Now 60 days is over September 2nd i sent an email and haven’t gotten any response or money yet.

Strike, NOT worth the small discount ...
My Experience with Strike.
Strike is the most difficult place I have dealt with buying Bitcoin. I purchased Bitcoin and wanted to purchase a lot more, and they basically blocked me from doing so and have some silly tiered and weekly timed system to be able to purchase it. I have purchased crypto from many sources and never was limited to an amount or time delay, lol, it's crazy. I was drawn in from reading online of Strike having low fees and charges. Well, that may be true to an extent. They make everything difficult and stressful. Another example that just occured 9/3/26, My wife and I moved to a new address for her work. All of our bills are paid online, which is pretty much standard in this day and age. Well, Strike Support Team wouldn't change my address without proper paperwork and wanted to see all information, not just a written and signed letterhead from a billing company. No simple edit button to click like most online businesses have (such as PayPal, Sofi, Fidelity, Robinhood, and many others that I recently updated in the last day or two) Low fees don't mean much if accessing your funds or handling a routine account change becomes a major hassle.
BUYER BEWARE: Before depositing a significant amount of money, make sure you understand Strike's verification requirements and withdrawal procedures.
Response from STRIKESep 6, 2026
Darren, we appreciate your review and are sorry you had this experience. We've updated your address. If you encounter any other issues, feel free to reach out.
The latest version of the app includes an Edit button near your account details, so you can update your address without contacting support. Whether you update your account details in the app or by contacting support, we require documentation to meet our obligations as a regulated financial technology company.

Other methods, such as wire transfers and direct deposits, are unlimited and allow you to withdraw purchased bitcoin instantly.
Your feedback helps us improve our services. We appreciate your patience as our team helped you solve your issues. We’re here to help whenever you need.

Struck out with Strike
I used Strike and was happy with the app. Until today when I logged in and found my account has been closed for suspected scam activity. All of my transactions were legal and my own. Now I have to go through the process of finding a new bitcoin app and starting from scratch.
Don't use unless you like decisions made for you by an organization that doesn't give you a chance.
Response from STRIKEJun 23, 2026
Barbara, we understand that having your account closed is frustrating. Strike may restrict or close accounts to help protect our users and the platform. For help with your specific account, please reach out to [email protected] so our team can look into this for you.
