StartEngineReviews of startengine.com

It's giving me the opportunity to better my life and maybe grandkids

I'm very excited for this investment. I've never done this before and I am excited because it's the first time that I had this opportunity. I know this company is going to grow and grow to be something huge and glad I'm glad to be a part of it.

The application process for StartEngine was quick and straightforward. I was able to use the platform to do the initial investment in the company that I was interested to purchase shares. Once I signed up in StartEngine it opened and opportunity for me to receive exposure to other potential startups for further investment.

Overall, StartEngine offers a good angel investing experience for the masses. The app is easy to use/navigate and finding companies to invest in is also easy. However, selling stocks on their secondary market (which at least they have in place) is extremely difficult and very user unfriendly. It’s so hard to find a willing buyer or navigate the selling screens. In addition, when companies on the app go IPO, your stocks are held by some middle man holding company and transferring the stocks to your own portfolio held by fidelity or whoever can be a chore. It’s also a lengthy process, which results in lost money generally as the shares devalue after IPO. Finally, the customer support team can be unhelpful and combative at times. They dont seem to care about making the app better for its users particularly.

Setup was user friendly

Just trying some thing new~ I think its a good way to start something NEW with out giving my money to a large Co. i hope to be able to invest more as time goes by.

Shane with Customer Service was great. I wish I had this kind of service with all my investments. Randy

Got off on the wrong foot -- deposited money in "account" to cover my first investment. Turned out they take money directly out of my bank account to cover that. Getting erroneous deposit back was a hassle because of the ghostly "$500" image already in the withdrawal amount box -- which I could not delete. Yeah, NOW I know you just key on the box and a very faint flicking line signals you to type the amount right over the existing "$ 500" entry. 72 year old eyes finally saw this after 7 months of frustration. Meanwhile, I tried to use that money to partially fund my next investment, but, no, you can't do that. Customer Service never did figure out what I was doing wrong, although they did respond. At any rate, new investors should be emphatically warned that there is no reason to deposit money in a Start Engine account. Other than my complaint described above, I like the platform pretty well, and will continue to use it.
