When you name a star, you will receive the same iconic International Star Registry parchment certificate that hangs proudly in homes all over the globe. You will also receive a sky chart with the star's location indicated and circled and a booklet about astronomy. When you name a star there are numerous package options, including framing options, engraved sterling silver jewelry, a "photographic sky chart" and more.How does International Star Registry name stars?:Through the centuries, the stars above us have been recorded in dozens of different astronomical catalogs created by scientists throughout the world. Modern scientists do not refer to most of these catalogs.In 1979, International Star Registry was founded for the specific purpose of allowing everyone on Earth to take part in claiming a special connection to the starry skies above us. We broke with scientific tradition and created a completely unique catalog of the stars, assigning names to stars and listing them alphabetically rather than by size and location. Although we have great respect and gratitude for the scientific community, and benefit greatly from the research and discoveries so many great minds have brought to us all, we believe the stars do not belong solely to the scientific community, but to everyone.
