If Starline Van Lines was the movie, Forest Gump, we'd find ourselves at the point where Jenny yelled, 'RUN FOREST RUN!" Starline Van Lines is NOT a mover, they are a "Broker" who posts moving jobs to sub contractors - like the defunct cable TV show, "Shipping Wars". Once booked, they devoid themselves of any culpability/responsibility for the person THEY chose. And, when things go wrong, like boxes missing, damaged personal property, etc, they point you to the person they chose and wash their hands of the entire process. Starline takes their cut of the total cost of a move and then, such as our case in all of the above, addition fees for the personal property can and were added. This company is a total sham and I encourage anyone reading this to find a moving company that takes responsibility from door to door. It will end up costing you the same as if you hired an actual mover, NOT a BROKER. PER THEIR RESPONSE: Your sales guy, Curtis Connelly, never once said Starlines was a broker - in fact, when I inquired, Curtis touted the length of time he's been in the moving business leading me to believe I was speaking with a company on par with an actual mover. In any case, you offered no help in holding the mover you chose, D Logistics Movers, out of Tacoma Washington, accountable for their shoddy work. I sent your company a video and multiple pictures of both the damage D Logistics caused to my personal property. Additionally, it took over a week and multiple phone calls before I finally got the insurance company to file a claim against D Logistics - which now they tell me it will be up to 90 days before they contact me again. Starline is a terrible company with no regard for the customer. I stand by my comments, EVERYONE READING THIS, RUN, RUN RUN....you will thank me later.

If I could do zero stars that would be my pick. I guess it depends on who you work with to get top notch service. Company sucks ass. I'm glad other people had good service but I will not be recommending, NOT helpful and only want your money not your business. I will be contacting an attorney to file suit in small claims.

This company is a SCAM! I paid the deposit in March. The QC team was supposed to call me on Thursday-Friday 21-22 March if not before then. That did not happen. The movers latest pick up date was supposed to be Monday 25 March. That did not happen. I have made NUMEROUS phone calls and emails trying to get an answer as to what’s going on. Of those phone calls, 8 times I have been told “you’ll be receiving a call back shortly” with time frames ranging from 30 minuets-6 hours. Not one time have a received any sort of phone call or email in response. I was put into a position where I had to hire another company to move my family and I do to the lack of communication and professionalism. When I did get someone on the phone (Mike) I was asked “Why are you trying to cancel your past your pick up date” to which my response was “that’s a really great question” I am now battling months later to try and get my money back, I can't get a response to emails. Everytime I call on the phone I'm told “I'll pass your file over” and the process repeats. All I want is a my refund of $4,500 as absolutely nothing was done.

Total scam! I gave them a deposit of 600 hundred and then I changed my mind. They said the check will not go through. but 2 days later they deposited my check. Liars liars!

When I needed to ship furniture and housewares from Belmont, MA to Austin, TX and San Francisco, CA I started looking online to find the best price for my shipping needs. After speaking with a number of sales reps from a number of companies I found Starline Van Lines. They seemed a good shipping company. I received an acceptable quote from a sales rep on the phone at and decided to go with them. When the movers showed up a couple of weeks later to pick up everything, they refused to continue loading my freight unless I agreed to an additional 20% shipping cost. When I asked to speak with a manager over the phone I was told by her, "I don't give a damn what some broker somewhere has quoted you. Sign, or we will put everything back inside."

 At that point I realized I had been lied to and that Starline Van Lines is not a shipping company, but a shipping broker.

 I emailed and called Starline. They did not respond to my emails or return my phone calls when I tried to get a refund for the difference. I finally gave up.

 This company will give you fake quotes to get your business and let you hang when an actual shipper shows up and demands more money. At which point you are screwed.

 Do not do business with these crooks. EDIT AFTER STARLINE RESPONSE TO MY REVIEW. In their response Starline Van Lines lied again. I did not have any additions on the day of shipment pickup. The changes I made were made well in advance of the ship[ping date of July 28 as required by the contract I had signed. The supposedly added items is also not what the dispute over the added charge was about with the actual shipping company. It had to pay extra, because the driver claimed that my freight was taking up more than the allotted 300 cubic feet. The manager I had spoken with at Starlines (I am not allowed to mention her name here) had assured me that I was well within the 300 cubic feet. In fact I had gone over all the items with her and she agreed with me that the total was actually 79.94 cubic feet. I still have the emails and paperwork to prove it. I was indeed charged an additional $336. That was not even the worst of it. During the reservation process I was asked if the delivery addresses were accessible with 18 wheelers. I said "No". I was assured that smaller trucks would be used, like the one that picked up everything. Instead at both locations big rigs were used, which posed serious issues at both locations. The San Francisco trucker refused to come to my home to make the delivery unless I paid another $350 for transferring my cargo to a smaller truck for delivery. I ended up renting a U-Haul van that ended up costing us about $125, and drove with my wife to a location in Berkeley where our things were transferred to the van after I paid the balance. I had never driven a large U-Haul delivery van before. I am 75 years old, and my wife is 65. The death of my wife's mother made all of this necessary, so we could keep some of her possessions as memories of her. This has surely been one of the worst experiences of my life. Send me a check for $336, and I may forget the whole sordid affair.

This company is a scam & their costumer service is horrible They will not work with you or your situation - they gave me an original quote to which I agreed and about 10 days before the move, they wanted to increase the price and I told them I could not afford it and wanted to cancel the move. Even though I told them I could not afford it, they attempted to charge my account multiple times for the remaining balance of the deposit (for the new price). These people will not work with you and they are just trying to get their hands on your deposit money. Avoid at all costs!

They are a scam. I gave them a list of furniture I would be taking. They gave me a false quote when I first called and talked to Curtis. The night before pick up I received a call from a woman telling me they could not take the SAME LIST I gave Curtis because it wouldn’t fit andI would have to pay more for more space and take less. I did pay. Then the day of pick up a moving van from another company showed up and the man told me they could not take the SAME LIST I gave the woman the night before because there was not enough space. They still didn’t take everything on the list, but after I told them this was a scam and to forget taking anything, they agreed to take 20 medium size boxes I had packed for ANOTHER $200. Again I paid. They said delivery would take between 5-21 days. Tomorrow will make 30 days and they still have not delivered the furniture and boxes. We called last week and the said it would be delivered this week. It was not. We called again this week and they said next week. I have reported them to the BBB and will report them to the Attorney General tomorrow. Next will be a letter from my attorney. Twice they said they would look into it and call us back. They NEVER called us back. Plus, Curtis told me they would pack everything for me and use their own boxes and tape. When I got the phone call the night before pick up she told me they do not do that and she doesn’t know why he told me that. So I had to rush and pack everything myself the night before and run to Walmart to buy boxes in a hurry. Do not use this company.
