1) We had such a hard time adjusting our billing information after our bank account was hacked. What should have been a relatively easy fix resulted in an unexpected amount of money being drawn out. I’m sure that occurred because your customer service reps do not speak very good English, sorry to say.
2) One if our claims has been tied up for an excessive amount of time because more information was needed even after sending an itemized receipt. There was a note stating our vet’s office had been contacted and yet the claim sat for weeks in the same status until my husband called and insisted the vet be called for clarification while he waited on the line.

I purchased the full plan when we got…
I purchased the full plan when we got our puppy in January. I did this as our last pup that passed away after 16 years had incidents that really racked up her vet bills!
Followed Spots suggestions of waiting 2 weeks for her insurance to establish before seeing the vet. Forward to her teeth extraction for puppy teeth and fracture teeth.
I phoned Spot and spoke with the insurance processor to check on coverage for baby teeth extraction. I was clearly told YES, Spot covered this. The vet also found fractured teeth which was making her sick.
Now I did not receive an email. I just found on my phone app with Spot, that the claim is denied! How can this be??? I’m reporting this to Better Business Beuro and California Insurance claims. I’m also going to visit every vet within my area to show this to perspective patrons looking for pet insurance for their pets!

Fast claims advertised, but not my experience
I am giving Spot Pet Insurance one star based on my claims experience and the lack of clear communication.
Spot’s website advertises a fast, simple claims process, including language about quick claim submission and fast reimbursement. That has not been my experience. I submitted my claims with the required invoices and medical records, but they have remained delayed/queued without meaningful updates or clear explanations.
This was for BASIC annual exam and vaccinations. "Most claims are processed within 48 hours after you’ve submitted all required documents." Yes, ALL requested docs submitted. " “Get reimbursed in 48HRs”... Our claim has been sitting there for eight days in queue, not even looked at.
When I contacted customer service, I received canned responses instead of specific answers about my actual claims. I asked directly whether anything was missing and what the status was, but I did not receive the kind of clear, claim-specific information a paying customer should be able to expect.
It is extremely frustrating to pay monthly premiums-ON TIME by the way, submit the requested documentation, and then be left waiting while the company’s website promotes fast claims processing. If the advertised timeline does not apply, customers should be told why. If something is missing, customers should be told exactly what is missing.
At this point, I do not feel confident in Spot’s claims process, their customer service, or their communication. The coverage may look good on paper, but the actual claims experience has been disappointing and stressful. Try Lemonade or ASPCA.

Claim Rejection for completely…
Claim Rejection for completely unrelated issue. We had our dog endure a full check up PRIOR to joining Spot Pet Insurance and she was given a clear bill of health. Some months after joining she developed an abscess in her mouth which resulted in her needing surgery to remove the tooth. our claim was rejected because the initial medical report we had done prior to joining Spot had remarked "Minor Tartar" on her teeth. This was enough for Spot to deny the claim. I am extremely disappointed that the link between minor tartar and a severe abscess is reason for denial.
This is akin to linking long paw nails to reason for denial of a broken leg. !!

AVOID Spot Pet Insurance
I strongly recommend AVOIDING Spot Pet Insurance and considering one of the many other highly rated pet insurance providers.
For nearly two months, Spot has delayed making a pre-approval decision for my dog's recommended treatment despite having received all the requested medical records, documentation, and supporting information. During that time, I have repeatedly been given explanations for why a decision has not yet been made, but no meaningful progress has occurred.
My 5-year-old Labrador Retriever has been suffering from a leg injury that has not healed in nearly six months. An orthopedic veterinary specialist has recommended an ultrasound and potentially additional treatments to properly diagnose and address the issue. These delays are preventing my dog from receiving timely care.
What makes this situation particularly concerning is that Spot's continued delays are pushing the claim process toward my annual policy renewal date. I have already satisfied my deductible and am currently in the reimbursement phase of my coverage. If the process extends beyond the renewal date, my deductible will reset to zero, potentially costing me thousands of dollars in additional out-of-pocket expenses. From my perspective, Spot's handling of this matter appears designed to delay a decision until after renewal, rather than provide the prompt evaluation that policyholders reasonably expect.
In addition, Spot's customer service has been extremely frustrating. Every time I have called, I have struggled to communicate with representatives due to language barriers and poor phone connection quality. Regardless of the representative's knowledge or professionalism, the combination of difficult-to-understand communication and consistently poor call quality has made it unnecessarily difficult to obtain clear answers about my claim.
Based on my experience, Spot has failed to provide timely claim handling, transparent communication, and effective customer support when my pet needed care the most. I cannot recommend this company.
