I was a new client with SPOT and would not reccommend them at all. They took over 3 weeks to review my claim and then used the Pre-existing condition excuse to deny the claim. The customer service options were slow to respond and now I have requested them to reimburse my full policy payment which they are not responding to. In the past I had Nationwide and when I compare the 2, I would go back to Nationwide considering the extreme difference in how claims are handled and communicated about. Update: While SPOT did respond to my request today for a policy refund, they want to pro-rate the amount. Due to the delay in processing my claim and the customer service issues, I did not feel pro-rating was acceptable.

Ive been paying for 3 cats for awhile now. 1 kept getting crystals and getting blocked, he needed PU surgery. They denied me because back in March he had a blockage that I paid for, no insurance then. I got him completely unblocked. Its very common for male cats to get crystals and blockage often. They considered it pre-existing, even though I got them removed and in Augast he got new ones and so bad he needed surgery. Each time he gets crystals removed and they come back is a new time and situation. Its not like they were the same crystals as before and he didnt need surgery then. They could have at least helped with the surgery and not the other blockage visits I had.

I have asked twice now for explanation to why I haven't heard back about 2 claims I made. NO RESPONSE. I am paying a lot of money for this insurance and am not happy with customer service response, or lack of.

At first they covered a wellness visit and some basic shot, then when I went to get him neutered which it said was part of the platinum puppy plan they denied it saying it is not covered and can’t be verified when I submitted the bill. Funny thing is now I can’t view the benefit section anymore like they purposely deleted it or something. Cancel spot!

It doesn’t matter what your pet is diagnosed with. They will do everything in their power to market as a pre-existing condition and then when you ask, why will not give you any details on why they justified that and will refuse to provide the copy of the medical records, they’re supposedly using to determine that. It’s a complete scam I’ve ever dealt with.

Hi Emery, Know we’re never happy when we have to deny a claim for a pet parent. We do our best to be transparent regarding our need for medical records. All claim decisions are based on your pet’s medical records and the signs/symptoms that are noted in those records. Most pet insurance providers including Spot use a pet’s medical records provided by your veterinarian to determine if there are any pre-existing conditions that would keep us from approving a claim. As I have already written you. I am a practicing physician who has dealt with many insurance companies and their issues. Yours is one of the worst companies I have dealt with. Since I have placed my claim I have received nothing. I have been repeatedly requested to send information which I have done repeatedly. I received another such email today. Probably the 6th or 7th. If you have no desire to compensate me admit it and quit wasting my valuable time. You have also asked me to give aGoogle review and I refrained from sending a bad review because as a professional person I have no desire to hurt your company even though you have treated my family so unprofessionally.
