They try their best not to pay claims if you have cancelled your policy even though the claim was submitted prior to cancellation.

Horrible customer service. You weren't able to get my pets vet records themselves even though it says you can do that. But whatever ok fine, I call my vet and have him send everything over. Then I get another email from you saying that the records aren't complete and you need more. I call my vet again and have him resend everything and also cc me in the email. Everything is there. I reply to you, "that's everything, we literally don't have more records." no reply for a week. My partner calls you and the person we spoke to insists on needing more records. There. Aren't. Any. I finally get another email back from you too, saying again that you need more records?!??!! I'm like how many godforsaken times do I need to tell you there literally are not more records!! Finally it seems like you bufoons get it, and start processing the claim. Miserable and stressful experience and a waste of my time and money.

My experience with SpotPetSource has been horrible. Their claims and reimbursement process is unreliable, misleading, and frustrating, making it nearly impossible to trust their service.

Scam! They tell you they reimburse a certain way, but when you file a claim, they don't cover anything you are paying premiums for. I pay for a 90% policy, but that is not how they processed our claims. High premiums compared to reimbursement. We are looking into new insurance. I would never recommend this company.

Spot's Gold Plan provides for coverage of several important annual vaccines. To be reimbursed, however, Spot requires 2 years of prior Vet care notes. Coverage for preventative and advertised as such should not require paperwork roadblocks and delays. It throws up serious red flags on any future acute care claims. So yes, I cancelled today.

We are still waiting for reimbursement for a $900 vet visit. I do not recommend this insurance company.

If there were an option to put zero stars I would. Poor customer service and denial of all claims is the standard for this company. My dog had to have a surgery and then a follow up. Then another issue arose. We received a $9 reimbursement on over $3000 in medical bills. And when we questioned the low amount sent to us the person on the phone said we hadn’t met the deductible! When we requested to cancel the policy the person on the phone became rude and hung up on me in the middle of my conversation. Do not buy insurance from these people they are only interested in collecting premiums and refusing to pay any claims

After initially thinking I might have finally found a decent pet insurance provider in Spot, I’ve had my confidence in them shattered by one denied claim. My dog’s at‑home cancer screening flagged a moderate risk, so my vet ordered an abdominal ultrasound. Spot refused to classify the ultrasound as a covered diagnostic, even though their illness plan explicitly covers exams, diagnostics and lab tests. Their reasoning? Because the screening test itself is still in the proof‑of‑concept stage, all follow‑up care is “preventive” and excluded. That logic ignores both common sense and Florida law on interpreting insurance contracts. I made it clear I wasn’t asking for reimbursement - just that the ultrasound be applied toward my deductible - but they dug in anyway. Multiple appeals, BBB complaints, and even a letter to the underwriter have produced copy‑and‑paste responses. I’m keeping the policy only because my dog is a senior and switching providers would expose him to new waiting periods. But I’ve withdrawn my recommendation to colleagues and will be sharing this experience with the benefits broker who suggested Spot. If you’re looking for a pet insurer that stands behind medically necessary diagnostics, you might want to look elsewhere.
