Awful company . They will scrutinise your dogs medical records to attempt to discredit your claim even when the current symptoms have nothing to do with earlier problems with another insurer.
They knocked back my claim for £750 and they also refused a claim made by my mother in law for over £1500. Avoid at all cost

Beware
Beware! They make up reasons for denial. After appeal for anesthesia for a cat, I was told it was denied because of a behavioral issue. The cat has never had or been diagnosed with the vet, then called the insurance to explain this. They still denied. He then wrote a letter explaining that the cat needed to have his mouth examined and would not hold still for him to treat it and that was why the cat needed anesthesia. The vet explained the animal has never been diagnosed nor has the animal ever been treated with a behavioral issue and that it was nonsense for them to deny. Hoping after sent letter someone realizes. Next step will be complaint with Texas insurance board and attorney general and my own attorney for breech of contract and deceptive trade practices.

Honestly DONT DO IT!!!
Honestly, I could be brief and say “Screw Spot” but anybody who loves their pet deserves to know why Spot is a terrible company that does not deserve your money. You and your pet deserve better than their bullsh*t.
We obtained pet insurance thinking it was the responsible thing to do. Our cats are our family and we want nothing but the best for them. After one of our kitties sustained an injury (tore her CCL) we were devastated, but we foolishly thought “at least we have pet insurance”. We submitted what should have been a straight forward claim with Spot. We have accident coverage, she had an accident, she should be covered, right? Instead, Spot denied the claim almost immediately, but not before altering the claim we actually filed - from the CCL tear to periodontal disease. We found that Spot had dug through our cat’s veterinary record to find any excuse they could to deny a claim and settled on that small note from several years ago. Never mind that periodontal disease is the #1 most common health condition in cats, never mind that it can be effectively and quickly treated, as it was in our case. Regardless, Spot claimed that this “preexisting condition” was enough basis to deny the claim. Spot, perhaps recognizing the flimsiness of their own excuse, also claimed that ligament deterioration is due to a common ailment in CANINES and that that was enough basis to deny the claim.
I had to remind Spot that dogs and cats are two very different species and that we were not seeking coverage for a minor case of gingivitis, just the ADVERTISED COVERAGE for accidents. Spot spent several weeks mulling our appeal only to double down on their unwillingness to fulfill their end of the bargain. We have paid every bill on time, provided every piece of documentation asked for, and even got a letter from our veterinary surgeon, but spot still had their rejection letter ready to go. Spot’s unwillingness to actually cover their clients with valid claims is absurd, frustrating, and criminal.
I am now left with a mountain of debt and profound sense of betrayal. Spot doesn’t care about you or your pet. They are predators who prey on one’s love of animals. They have mastered dodging phone calls, ignoring emails, fraudulently altering claims, and skirting contractual obligations. Know what they can’t do? Help you when you need it most.
Do not give spot a single cent of your money. You’d be much better off keeping your $20/month in a high yield savings account, or even a coffee jar.
To anyone at Spot who may be reading this: you should be ashamed of yourselves. Your greed and brazen lack of empathy have made an enemy for life whose singular goal in life is to steer as many people as possible away from your terrible “company”.

Beware! Unjustly Classifying a Symptom as a Preexisting Condition!
Beware of what you say to your vet! Spot used my non-medical degree words against me to classify my dog's symptom as a preexisting condition! My husband and I adopted a small terrier mix six months ago. We got ourselves set up with Spot Pet Insurance. At the time of the adoption we were not aware that he was suffering from worms, even though he had been dewormed by the rescue. To make a long story short ~ We tried making diet changes before taking him back to the vet. Our little guy has since suffered with multiple bouts of severe diarrhea, which we have discovered was due to different diagnosis of worms over the next few months - tapeworm, round worm, hook worm, and finally giardia. The insurance company seemed wonderful at first - covering treatments after we reached our 500 dollar deductible. Then they did an audit - used my own words at the vet describing his condition against us and declared his diarrhea was a pre-existing condition and took money off of our deductible and are making us start all over. How can diarrhea be determined to be a preexisting condition when it was a symptom of at least four different worms? I find this extremely unfair. Beware of what you say! What is in the vet notes will be used against you even though you do not have a medical degree.

Hi Deanna, we're incredibly sorry to hear your dog is suffering from worms. Heartbreaking Loss Made Worse by This Insurance Company
I would strongly advise pet parents to think twice before choosing Spot Insurance.
When my beloved pet passed away, I expected empathy and support. Instead, I experienced delays, unclear communication, and a frustrating claims process during one of the most painful moments of my life. I had to repeatedly follow up, provide changing documentation, and push for basic answers while grieving.
Pet insurance is supposed to provide peace of mind in emergencies and loss. This experience did the exact opposite. The lack of compassion and accountability was deeply disappointing.
If you are buying insurance to protect your pet and yourself during difficult times, this is not a company I would trust. Losing a pet is hard enough. Dealing with this insurance made it harder.
